Milla Jovovich and her now-husband, Paul W.S. Anderson first met on the sets of the film, Resident Evil. It is worth mentioning that Paul directed the 2002 film, whereas Milla was the lead actress of the same. While everything looked like a film set romance, years later, in 2017, Milla revealed that their relationship started on a rough note, as the actress thought Paul was cutting her scenes from the film. Milla Jovovich was quoted as saying:
"Paul ended up coming over that evening, and we literally sat for three hours and went through the script, page by page. He was like, 'What do you mean? This didn’t change that much?' So I was like, 'OK, why don’t we start with page one?' I pointed out every time I felt like my great scenes were taken away. That was how we started our relationship."

The same year, in 2002, Paul and Milla made their red-carpet debut as a couple. It is worth noting that they looked madly in love with each other. Later, in 2003 Paul popped the question to Milla and proposed to her with a gold ring with colored pink, yellow and white diamonds. In November 2007, the couple welcomed their first child- a daughter, Ever Gabo and two years later, in 2009, they tied the knot in an intimate ceremony held in their Beverly Hills home. Talking about their reception, Milla once shared that it was attended by only 100 guests.

After nearly seven years, in 2015 Milla Jovovich and Paul W.S. Anderson announced their second pregnancy. At that time, the actress was shooting for the film, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. Before announcing their third pregnancy, Paul and Milla went through one of their toughest phases. In 2017, Milla experienced an emergency abortion. According to a report by People Magazine, the Resident Evil actress was more than four months pregnant and while shooting a film, she went into a pre term labour. In 2019, Milla revealed:
"It was one of the most horrific experiences I have ever gone through. I still have nightmares about it. I was alone and helpless. When I think about the fact that women might have to face abortions in even worse conditions than I did because of new laws, my stomach turns."

As of 2026, it's been more than two decades that Milla Jovovich and Paul W.S. Anderson have been together. Over the years, she has often collaborated with her husband on projects like Monster Hunter, The Three Musketeers and more. In 2026, Milla Jovovich had a candid conversation with People, during which she revealed the secret to her long and healthy marriage with Paul. She shared:
"I think part of what's kept our relationship so close and so alive is the fact that we share so much in common, but at the same time, we're not both actors and we're not both writers and we're not both directors. We both have talent in the same field, but in different areas, so there's not that weird competition."
