He confirmed this time that he and Perry dated. Groban additionally referred to the reasons leading to their split and reacted to Katy’s single by saying:

“We were both very private, and so we realised we were better as friends. And we’ve been very, very good friends to this day. She’s the best. But I was not expecting that. That was a double take and a spit of my coffee when I saw that.”

The video was also believed to be a promotion of Katy’s beverage company, Drink De Soi, since tagged the same on her Instagram post. The caption of the video featured Perry sending her best wishes, as she wrote:

The photos also included Justin Trudeau. The pair’s relationship rumours started in late 2025 with certain moments, including Justin attending a performance of Katy. The romance was seemingly announced in December 2025 when Katy posted the memories of her visit to Japan, and it featured her posing with Justin in some pictures.
