'Imperfect Women' Episode 2 Ending Explained: 'Robert's' Possible Motive To Kill 'Nancy' Revealed

Imperfect Women was one of the most anticipated series of 2026. Well, for those unaware, the show recently premiered on Apple TV on March 18, 2026. With the series consisting of 8 episodes in total, the platform dropped the first two episodes on release day, with one new episode dropping weekly from that point on until April 29, 2026.

Even with just the two episodes released so far, Imperfect Women has already given viewers a glimpse of a number of twists and turns, with promises of more to come. Well, before episode 3 of Imperfect Women drops, let us help jog your memory about what happened in episode 2 and how it ended.

What did 'Robert's' letter actually say in Imperfect Women episode 2?

In Imperfect Women episode 2, we find that 'Eleanor' receives a letter which is written by 'Robert' to 'Nancy'. Interestingly, in the letter, 'Robert' writes about the regret he feels for his behaviour when he found out about his wife, ‘Nancy's’ affair. He even mentions how his actions scared his wife and the fact that he was aware she was having an affair with ‘Davide’ before she died. This is the moment when viewers realise that although ‘Robert’ had acted like he had no idea that ‘Nancy’ was cheating, in reality, he knew about the affair but just chose not to say it.

Why did ‘Robert’ choose to hide the truth about ‘Nancy’s’ infidelity?

'Robert's' choosing to remain silent about ‘Nancy’s’ affair is pretty significant. If you are wondering why, by doing so, he would continue to appear as a mourning husband in front of others. However, for viewers, details like his daughter, ‘Cora,’ being afraid of him will also start to make more sense. Additionally, by lying, he would also avoid suspicions that are connected to his quarrel with ‘Nancy’ before her death.

Robert

Imperfect Women episode 2 heavily leans into how ‘Robert’ had the perfect reason to be angry at his wife. Well, even though ‘Robert’ lied, it doesn't necessarily confirm his guilt. Nor does his acting like he did not know about ‘Nancy’s’ affair make him a killer.

'Eleanor's judgment is compromised when it comes to ‘Robert’

'Eleanor's' character is the one that complicates things further in Imperfect Women episode 2. It is clear as day that her judgment is compromised and that she has a blind spot for ‘Robert.’ Other characters like ‘Mary’ and ‘Donovan’ also quickly catch on to this fact, with ‘Donovan’ even calling her out directly. Despite this, ‘Eleanor’ does not shy away from getting closer to ‘Robert.’

Their relationship finally crosses the line in Ojai when we see ‘Robert’ and ‘Eleanor’ in bed together, the result of grief and unresolved attraction. While their decision was impulsive, to viewers it felt highly inevitable that they would be together in this manner. And now that ‘Eleanor’ knows ‘Robert’ has lied after reading his letter, she does not know what to do, as she is already emotionally entangled with him.

Robert

Episode 2 ends in a cliffhanger, with ‘Robert’ walking in as ‘Eleanor’ holds the letter. It is also the perfect set-up for a dramatic confrontation, which we can expect to see in Imperfect Women episode 3.
