'Like Idiots', Aaron Rodgers Slams Ex-GF Shailene Woodley For Using Him For Fame Years After Split

NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers is gearing up for his last season before retirement and focusing on his personal life, taking baby steps to mend his relationship with his estranged family. Not just with his family, Aaron also had strained relations with his ex-girlfriends, as he hinted on the Not Just Football podcast. Aaron was previously betrothed to actress Shailene Woodley, but they eventually called off the engagement.

Years after their split, Aaron slammed Shailene for constantly using him for fame. He also alleged that she and his other exes brought him up publicly only when they needed to get back in the spotlight. He also made several other explosive remarks about her.

Aaron Rodgers claimed that his ex-fiancée, Shailene Woodley, and other former girlfriends, including Danica Patrick, used him for fame. He alleged that Shailene was at the "height of [her] fame" when she dated him. He took the credit for the flourishing careers of her and his other exes, adding that nobody was interested in those women until they got associated with him.

The Pittsburgh Steelers QB also compared his former girlfriends to "idiots on TV" who use his name to make it to the headlines. He was quoted as saying:

"No one knows what they're doing...They get clicks when they say my name. Just like the idiots on TV get clicks when they say my name because I am a lightning rod."

Notably, the 42-year-old Aaron Rogers' remarks came just days after the 34-year-old Shailene Woodley won her first Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her role in Hulu's Paradise. Aaron's fiery remarks may have stemmed from Shailene's past comments about him and her clarification that she wasn't involved in his family rift.

Now that the NFL legend is a married man, with a wife he absolutely adores, he might be trying to publicly cut ties with all his old flames. For the unversed, Aaron shared that he secretly tied the knot with his mystery lover, Brittani in 2025.

Shailene Woodley and Aaron Rodgers dated for two years before breaking up in February 2022. Notably, this was just a year after the duo went public with their relationship. During an interview with Outside Magazine, the actress detailed how their split led to her depression. She claimed that she had chosen to stay in a "toxic situation" just because she empathized with "someone else."

However, while Shailene was going through a difficult time following her breakup with Aaron, she credited her stylist, Kris Zero, for helping her get through it all. She recalled that her depression eventually began to fade around six months after her split. She claimed that it was "the lowest point" of her life. But Kris, who remained by Shailene's side, would wake her up every morning by blasting music in an effort to get her out of bed.

Years after Shailene Woodley and Aaron Rodgers' split, he blamed her for them drifting apart. During his appearance on the Not Just Football podcast, Aaron claimed that a couple of days after Shailene said yes to his proposal, she came to him and said that she wanted to sleep with another man before they got married. He said:

"I dated Shailene, I proposed, and she said yes. She may have felt like she was forced to make a decision; she could have said no. But not a couple of days after that, she tells me before we get married like, 'I got to go f--- this guy.'"

It made Aaron feel that Shailene might have felt pressured to accept his proposal and wasn't really ready to spend the rest of her life with him. They started drifting apart from that point and eventually parted ways.
