For the unversed, Aaron found love with Shailene after his relationship with former NASCAR driver Danica Patrick ended. Earlier, in an interview, Aaron’s ex-girlfriend and actress Shailene shared that the relationship was not right. Now, in a podcast, the 42-year-old Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback revealed an unheard fact behind their split.

Recently, Aaron Rodgers sat for a candid conversation with his teammate and host, Cam Heyward, on his podcast, Not Just Football. During the conversation, Aaron shared that he proposed to Shailene Woodley, and she said "yes" to it. According to Aaron, Shailene might have felt forced to make a decision. However, after a couple of days, Shailene reportedly came to him and said that she wanted to have sex with another man before they got married. He said:
"I dated Shailene, I proposed, and she said yes. She may have felt like she was forced to make a decision; she could have said no. But not a couple of days after that, she tells me before we get married like, 'I got to go f--- this guy.'"
Aaron shared that in December 2020, he proposed to her, and by March 2021, Shailene had removed her engagement ring. For the uninitiated, during the acceptance speech at the 2020 NFL MVP award ceremony, Aaron announced his engagement with Shailene.
Later, in February 2021, during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Shailene, for the first time, opened up about her relationship with Aaron. She said, "Yes, we are engaged. We are engaged. But for us, it's not new news, you know. So it's kind of funny. Everybody right now is freaking out over it, and we're like, 'Yeah, we've been engaged for a while!'" In the recent podcast, Aaron alleged that they tried many times to get back together, but their relationship never really recovered.
Aaron also denied Shailene's claims. The NFL quarterback claimed that there was no relationship in 2022. Earlier, in an interview, Shailene stated, "I had a really awful, traumatic thing happen in early 2022," which led to about six months of depression. Aaron said:
"Her story is, I ruined her life and gave her crazy depression because I left her, but in actuality she told me that and took off the ring by March. I proposed in December, took off the ring by March, and we had a couple of times when we tried to get reunited, and nothing ever happened, and there wasn't even a relationship in '22 to break off. She literally told me I don't want to be with you."
Amid this, Aaron and Shailene’s past comments on their relationship resurfaced. In March 2021, the 42-year-old Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback called the engagement "the best thing that's happened" to him in 2020. Later, in a July 2021 interview with Shape, Shailene shared that she could feel that they were meant to be together. She said:
"I have the perspective that I would have met Aaron in any context, any space in time, because I feel we were meant to be together. Starting a relationship where you immediately move in with someone — because it's a pandemic and you can't just get on a plane and go back and forth on weekends — taught us a lot about each other very quickly."
