Hugh Hefner's Widow Crystal Recalled How Late Playboy Founder Lost His Hearing Due To Viagra Usage
Hugh Hefner's widow, Crystal Hefner, claimed that the late Playboy founder told her he would rather be deaf than not have sex once he allegedly lost hearing in one ear.

Recently, their relationship has made its way back into the spotlight after Crystal alleged that she felt “absolutely brainwashed” by Hugh and spoke out about their restrictive lifestyle. She had previously also claimed that Hugh told her that he would “rather be deaf” than not have sex.
Crystal Hefner revealed what Hugh Hefner said after he lost his hearing from Viagra use
Crystal Hefner's marriage to Hugh Hefner was nothing short of controversial due to their massive age gap and a number of other aspects. The duo tied the knot in 2012 and stayed together until his death at 91 in 2017. Crystal had reportedly met Hugh at the party at the Playboy mansion when she was just 21. After they began dating, Crystal soon became a part of the Playboy founder’s infamous group sex sessions.
According to Crystal, Hugh would take a lot of Viagra, just to keep up over the years. However, this caused him to develop hearing loss in one of his ears. Crystal admitted during an interview with the Daily Mail that when she joined Hugh’s group sex sessions, she found it pretty embarrassing.
She believed that nobody really wanted to be there, and despite Hugh’s age, he still thought that he was in his 40s and that he'd 'got it.' In her words:
“It was embarrassing. I don’t know the most people there’d been in our bedroom at one time but – a lot. Pretty bad. We were like, ‘Oh, now it’s your turn.’ Nobody really wanted to be there but I think in Hef’s mind, he still thought he was in his 40s, and those nights, the people, the mansion, solidified that idea. He felt, ‘I’ve still got it.’”
Speaking about Hugh Hefner's alleged hearing loss, Crystal revealed, “Hef’s always said he'd rather be deaf and still be able to have sex. Weird.” For those unaware, Pfizer, the company behind manufacturing the drug, reportedly cited sudden hearing decrease or hearing loss as something that is rarely reported. However, as a side effect, some people may also experience ringing in their ears or dizziness.
During the same interview, Crystal also touched upon what she believed was the “hardest part” of her relationship with her late husband. She claimed that it was facing all the harsh judgment thrown her way from outsiders. She also believed that the criticism was warranted. She stated:
“If it was my daughter now – it wouldn’t happen. All I can say is that if you come from a happy, perfect, loving childhood, you don’t usually end up with someone who was already 60 years old by the time you are born.”
Crystal Hefner felt ‘brainwashed’ and thought she was ‘crazy’ during her marriage to Hugh Hefner
During her recent appearance on the No One Asked Her podcast, Crystal claimed that she felt as if she was simply brainwashed during her marriage to the Playboy founder. She thought that she was crazy as the media kept putting Hugh on a pedestal. In her words:
"I think I was absolutely brainwashed, but there was nothing out there that validated me. So, I just thought I was the crazy one because all of the media put Hef on such a pedestal that I'm like, 'OK, if they all see him as this larger-than-life amazing human, there must be something wrong with me."
