Veteran actress, Hema Malini is undoubtedly one of the most evergreen and legendary celebrities in the Hindi film industry. Well known as Bollywood’s ‘Dream Girl’, she can give tough competition to any leading actress of today's generation with her beauty and acting skills. For the unversed, Hema Malini‘s career witnessed a hike with the film, Baghban, in 2003, but if rumours are to be believed, her husband, Dharmendra has not yet watched the film as he was jealous of her chemistry with Amitabh Bachchan.
In an interview with Lehren Retro, Hema Malini was asked if the rumours are true that her husband, Dharmendra still refuses to watch her film, Baghban, even today because of the on-screen chemistry she shared with Amitabh Bachchan. Responding to the same, Hema laughed and said:
“I don’t know about that."

In the same interview, Hema Malini opened up about signing the film, Baghban, opposite Amitabh Bachchan, which went on to become a box-office success. Talking about the same, the actress said that she wasn't initially convinced to play a ‘mother of four’ in the family drama. She recalled that when the director, Ravi Chopra, told her the storyline of the film, she immediately made up her mind that she would not sign the film. However, as soon as Ravi left, Hema turned to her mother, Jaya Chakravarthy, and told her that she couldn't do the role as she was making a comeback after a sabbatical. But the actress' mother convinced her to sign the film and told her that the story was very good and the role was very nice.
Hema Malini also opened up about how she has often been hailed as a feminist icon for her decision to stay separately from her husband, Dharmendra and raise her daughters, Esha and Ahana, single-handedly. Mentioning that her husband has always been there for their daughters, Hema added she has never felt bad about living in a separate household from him. Talking about the same, she said:
“Nobody wants to be like that; it happens. Automatically, what happens, you have to accept. Otherwise nobody will feel like they want to live their life like this. Every woman wants to have a husband, children, like a normal family. But somewhere, it went out of the way… I am not feeling bad about it, or sulking about it. I am happy with myself. I have my two children, and I have brought them up very well.”

For the unversed, Hema Malini got married to actor, Dharmendra, in 1980, while he was already married to his first wife, Prakash Kaur and had four kids, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Ajeeta and Vijeta. Hema and Dharmendra's relationship raised many eyebrows, but the much-in-love couple was unfazed by the criticism and trolling spewed upon them. Moreover, Hema was so secure about her relationship with the He-Man of Bollywood that once she revealed that she had no ounce of jealousy of the latter's first wife, Prakash Kaur. Dharmendra and Hema Malini became parents to their daughter, Esha Deol, in November 1981 and welcomed their second daughter, Ahana Deol in July 1985.
