Dharam Singh Deol, better known as Dharmendra is still considered as the most charming actor in Indian cinema. The veteran actor has some amazing performances to his credit in movies such as Phool Aur Pathar, Mera Gaon Mera Desh, Yaadon Ki Baaraat, Resham Ki Dori, Sholay and many more.
Voted among the ten most handsome men in the world in the 70s, the Punjab da Putar had fallen madly in love with the southern beauty, Hema Malini while he was already married to Prakash Kaur. Dharmendra and Prakash Kaur tied the knot in 1957, and despite that, the actor married Hema Malini after allegedly converting to Islam, so that he could keep his two marriages.

Despite being madly in love with Dharmendra, Prakash Kaur never gave him a divorce, even after he found love in Hema Malini. In a throwback interview with Stardust, Prakash Kaur opened up about the same and revealed that the whole world thought that she made a deal with Dharmendra to marry Hema. In her words:
“He may not be the best husband, though he is very good to me, but he is certainly the best father. His children love him a lot. He never neglects them. He is even launching Ajay's career. Everyone thought that I had made a deal with my husband that he could marry Hema if he launched my son's career. That is not true. How can such a thing be possible? Isn't Sunny as much his son as mine? Doesn't he love him as much as I love him."
Prakash Kaur also stated that despite his second marriage to Hema Malini, the actor has been protective towards his and Prakash’s children. Stating how he comes home to them, she elaborated:
“I am learning to stand on my own. But why should I protect myself when I have my husband to protect me? I don't care what the world may say about the kind of relationship I share with my husband. Where I am concerned I know that my husband is protecting all of us. He comes home every day and spends time with the children. I don't say that he comes home for me. But what is important is that he does come home."
In the same interview, Prakash also shared that although as a woman she understands Hema Malini’s situation, but as a wife and a mother, she does not approve of her relationship with Dharmendra. In her words:
“I can understand what Hema is going through. Even she has to face the world, her relatives and her friends. But if I were in Hema's place, I wouldn't have done what she did. As a woman, I can understand her feelings but as a wife and a mother I do not approve of them."

It was on the sets of Tum Haseen Main Jawan when Dharmendra fell madly in love with Hema Malini. After tying the knot with Hema, Dharmendra bought a home for Hema, where she lived with her daughters, Esha Deol and Ahaana Deol. However, his first wife, Prakash Kaur lives in Dharmendra’s paternal house along with Sunny Deol and his family.
For the unversed, Dharmendra and Parkash Kaur have four children, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, Ajeeta Deol and Vijeeta Deol.
