According to reports, Hayden died on August 16, 2026, at Judson Mill Lofts. During her final moments, Hayden was staying with her on-and-off boyfriend, Brian Hickerson and his brother, Zach Hickerson. It was the brother duo who dialled 911 to report that Hayden was unresponsive. Now, Brian is terrified about Hayden’s mom putting him through a trial in the media.

Hayden Panettiere’s on-and-off boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, is reportedly worried about Hayden’s mother, Lesley Vogel, after Hayden’s death. A source told In Touch that Brian has told the truth about what happened when Hayden died, but he is scared because the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is investigating her death. According to the source, Hayden’s mom does not believe Brian’s explanation of what happened in Hayden’s final hours. The source was quoted as saying:
"Brian swears up and down that he's been completely honest about what happened the day Hayden died, but make no mistake, he's terrified right now. The DEA is investigating. It's very serious, and Hayden's mom is clearly on the warpath."
Four days after Hayden’s death, Brian Hickerson’s attorney, Sloan Ellis, released a statement on his behalf on August 20, 2026. TMZ was the first to report the news. The statement mentioned that Hayden’s untimely death remains under investigation, and it is important to allow the investigation to proceed. It also highlighted the police findings that say no signs of foul play. The statement can be read as:
"Hayden's death remains under investigation, and it is important to allow the investigation to proceed. As has been publicly reported, police confirmed there were no signs of foul play. Out of respect for Hayden's loved ones and the ongoing investigation, there will be no further comment at this time."
The source mentioned that Hayden’s mom would not give up until justice is served to her. According to the source quoted by In Touch, Lesley would ruin Brian just the way he allegedly did to Hayden. The insider alleged that Brian reportedly has been complaining about Hayden’s mom, Lesley, as she puts him through a media trial. The source was quoted as saying:
"She is not going to rest until she gets justice. She wants to see him ruined the way she believes he ruined Hayden. Brian is complaining that she's putting him through a trial in the media and he can't fight back."

In an interview with the Daily Mail, Hayden Panettiere’s mom, Lesley, questioned Brian Hickerson’s version of what happened before Hayden died. She told police that she was suspicious of his explanation that he simply found Hayden unresponsive. Lesley shared that she is very suspicious of Brian and questioned how he could sleep near Hayden while she was supposedly dying without realizing that something was wrong.
Lesley revealed that when the emergency medical team arrived, Hayden was experiencing cardiac arrest. Hayden’s mom believes that someone having cardiac arrest would usually show obvious signs that something was seriously wrong, rather than simply lying quietly. She added that Hayden’s family had been trying for a long time to separate her from her on-and-off boyfriend, Brian, because they did not want him in her life. According to reports, Hayden and Brian began dating in 2018, and since then they have been in an on-and-off relationship.
