Harshvardhan Nawathe had won the first season of Kaun Banega Crorepati, and everyone treated him like a star. After all, he had not only met the Shahenshah of Bollywood, Amitabh Bachchan, but he had also won Rs. 1 crore. It was a big thing then, and it is still now!
A still from the reality quiz show, Kaun Banega Crorepati season 1!
Recently, we stumbled upon a 2020 interview of Harshvardhan with ETimes, wherein he revealed the best advice he got from Amitabh Bachchan. The poster boy of KBC, Harshvardhan recalled that Amitabh Bachchan had sat with him for one hour after the show got over. He further revealed that Amitabh Bachchan told him to take care of his parents and to be cautious of everything. Talking about the same, Harshvardhan said:
"After the show, he interacted with me for an hour. The feeling of me having won the show had not sunk in. For me it was like any another quiz show because since my childhood I had participated in many quiz shows. Winning Rs 1 crore was something I had deliberately kept away from myself. It was not about money for me it was more like going there and experience. It was like a civil aspirant jo itna padhaai kar chuka hai kya prove kar sakte hai. He called me and spent some time with me. He told me Harshvardhan you don't know what you have done ab aap bahut sambhal ke rahiye aap apne parents Ka khayal rakhiye and take care of yourself."
Harshvardhan shared that Amitabh Bachchan wanted him not to lose himself in the bubble of fame. He was preparing him for the big change that came. Harshvardhan called it one of the best pieces of advice that he always remember. He shared:
"I mean these things come from someone who has seen it all. He meant it was very easy to lose yourself in that bubble fame of yours. He was in a way trying to tell me that be cautious and prepare myself for the change. Those were very wise words and they have remained with me probably because of my upbringing and the kind of environment that my parents have given me."
For those who don't know, the 47-year-old Harshvardhan is happily married to Sarika Nawathe!
