For the gossip lovers, Koffee With Karan was the one-stop destination where the host, Karan Johar had made his celeb friends spill the secrets on television, making the headlines for the next days to come. While we get an inside sneak-peek into the lives of celebrities, some big confessions had also created controversies which backfired the show. One such controversy was of cricketer, Hardik Pandya, and his “Main karke aaya hai aaj” statement on the (in)famous couch created an unsavoury media storm. Hardik and the show received a lot of flak and the right-handed batsman was criticised for his misogynistic comments that even today, he is asked to clarify the controversy. It was almost two years ago on Koffee With Karan when Hardik Pandya was asked "What is the most embarrassing thing you have done in the locker room?" To which, he had replied, "I like to spank." Hardik, however, clarified, "I just enjoy hitting the boys." Spilling the details about the day when he lost his virginity, Hardik had said, "When I lost my virginity, I came home and said, Main karke aaya hai aaj.” Highlighting how "cool" he is with his family members, Hardik had continued, "At a party my parents asked me acha tera wala kaun sa hai? I said yeh, yeh, yeh (pointing out women) and they were like waah proud of you beta." When Karan had probed further, "If you all hit on the same women, then how do you decide?" Hardik asserted, "Nahi nahi aisa kuch nahi hai, talent pe hota hai. Jisko mila woh leke jao.”
Now, in an interview with The Times of India, almost after two years of his “Main karke aaya hai aaj” controversy, Hardik Pandya reacts on being called a misogynist. Revealing how he can dislike women when his home is all about them, Hardik said, "I really didn't know what 'misogynistic' meant. At first, I laughed thinking it was some word being used to make fun of me. Then a friend said, it means "someone who strongly dislikes women. How can I dislike women? Mom, didi, bhabhi, Natasa - they're all women. I adore them. My home is all about women. We are, because they are." Recalling how he had lost control over his life for the first time post the controversy, Hardik continued, "For the first time, I wasn't in control of my own life. Everything around me started to crumble. I had to lock myself up. If not for my family, I'd have lost a great deal of everything. They were and continue to remain the backbone - the women in my family."
Since his statements had outraged netizens for his sexist comments, the show too, had received a lot of flak back then. So much so that the makers had taken down that episode from the website and app. Admitting that he got carried away with the nature of the show, Hardik had written on his apology post, “After reflecting on my comments on Koffee with Karan, I would like to apologise to everyone concerned who I may have hurt in any way. Honestly, I got a bit carried away with the nature of the show. In no way did I mean to disrespect or hurt anyone’s sentiments. Respect.” (Also Read: Ravi Dubey's Wish For Sargun Mehta's Parents On Their Anniversary Proves He Is A Doting 'Jamai Raja')
While that was a bit about Hardik Pandya’s 2019, the year 2020 had begun on an overwhelming note for the cricketer as he had gotten engaged to his girlfriend, Natasa Stankovic. Five months later, Hardik and Natasa had announced their intimate wedding and by sharing pictures from marriage and baby shower ceremony, they had revealed that soon they'll be entering the next phase of their relationship i.e., parenthood. Forward to July 2020, Hardik and Natasa had finally stepped into the most beautiful phase of their lives i.e., parenthood, and had welcomed a baby boy, whom they have named Agastya.
Since then, Hardik Pandya has been proving to be a doting daddy to his little one, Agastya and a loving husband to his wife, Natasa Stankovic. All-rounder Hardik was the key element of Mumbai Indians in Indian Premier League 2020. When the Mumbai Indians had lifted their 5th IPL title, Hardik had dedicated it to his then-three-month-old son, Agastya. Sharing a picture of lifting the trophy, Hardik had tweeted, “This one's for you, Agastya. Love this team! @mipaltan #Believe #MIChampion5.” (Also Read: Yuvraj Singh And Hazel Keech Celebrate Their Fourth Wedding Anniversary, Twin In Black For The Date)
