Now, Halle has hit back at her ex-husband, Olivier, for influencing Maceo.
Halle Berry reveals son, Maceo returns home ‘angry’ after custodial time with Olivier Martinez
In new court documents, Halle Berry has hit back at her ex-husband, Olivier Martinez, for negatively influencing their son. She alleged that Olivier causes Maceo to be angry at her in order to align the child with him and turn him against her. As per Berry:
“When Maceo would come home from his custodial time with Olivier, he would be angry and combative. I also perceived Maceo to repeat disputes that Olivier and I discuss in private and take Olivier’s side/position in that dispute.”
Halle Berry’s filing comes after Martinez was granted primary custody of Maceo and a temporary restraining order against her, alleging she choked Maceo during an argument. As per Berry’s recent filing, Olivier’s influence on Maceo has led their son to completely disregard Berry’s authority as his mother. Revealing how it had negatively influenced the child, Berry claimed:
“Martinez’s refusal to allow early interventions has caused Maceo to fall further behind in school, caused Maceo’s acting out behaviors to worsen, and caused further damage to Maceo’s and [Berry’s] relationship.”

Post the choking incident, Martinez submitted screenshots of the messages he received from Berry as exhibits in his request for a restraining order against the actress. As per the documents submitted by Martinez, Berry ‘felt terrible about what happened last night’. When he informed Berry about getting a call from their son to pick him up, she responded, “No, I'm not ok with it. He wants to fight his mother?? What kind of kid are we raising?"
In his filing, Martinez also claimed that he did not know what was happening at Berry's home but claimed the pair had been "fighting too much." Berry also accused Maceo of being disrespectful and said she felt she had "no say in anything," according to the exhibit.
Berry's response, according to the screenshot, was emphatic: "This is wrong, Olivier. I'm his mother, and this is wrong! He had no respect for his mother, and this should not be ok for you as his father!!!” In his filing, Martinez revealed that this is not the first incident; Berry had put Maceo in chokeholds in the past as well.
After Olivier Martinez made the accusations against Berry, she responded and said that she would never hurt their child. Instead, she has claimed that she is a victim of domestic violence herself. She says Olivier Martinez's allegations are "completely inconsistent with the mom I know." After the filing on October 5, 2026, the judge amended Olivier's temporary restraining order and clarified that the actress retains final decision-making authority over Maceo's mental health and education.
