For the unversed, Gypsy spent seven to eight years in prison for her role in conspiring to kill her mom, Dee Dee. Ken proposed to Gypsy during a prison visit in October 2018, and she said, 'Yes'.
While Ken’s sister, Autumn, called out Gypsy for leaking the news of his death to the media, her ex-husband, Ryan Scott, came to her defense and shared that he does not think Gypsy had anything to do with her ex-fiancé Ken’s death.

Gypsy Rose told PEOPLE that she believes her ex-fiancé, Ken Urker, died of an overdose on Thursday, October 1, 2026. According to reports, Ken was found dead at his Louisiana residence on his 34th birthday. Reacting to his sudden death, Gypsy Rose’s ex-husband, Ryan Scott, said in a podcast episode of The Sarah Fraser Show:
"I’m going to try to let the whole family breathe. This isn’t about me. This isn’t anything to do with me. I don’t even know if I should speak on it. It’s just a sad situation… my mind is all over the place. I feel anger, I feel sadness, I’m upset, I feel it all."
In the same podcast, Ryan revealed he reached out to Gypsy’s dad after Ken’s untimely death. He texted him to inform Gypsy that he was there if she needed him. He called the situation 'terrible'. He shared that he was worried about Gypsy, her daughter, and her family. He stated that if Gypsy reaches out to him, he would be there for her. Ryan confirmed that Gypsy’s dad did write him back and said that he would let Gypsy know.

For those unaware, Gypsy and Ryan got married on July 21, 2022, while she was still in prison, and he was the one to pick her up upon her release in December 2023. Days later, the former couple was on a press tour in New York City. However, their relationship didn’t last long, and they split up just three months later in March 2024. Their divorce was finalized in December 2024.

Further, in the podcast, Ryan was asked whether he believed Gypsy had anything to do with Ken’s death. In response, Ryan said that he does not believe Gypsy played any role in her ex-fiancé’s death. He explained that he understands why the police would investigate Gypsy, especially because of her past conviction and history. He said:
"Honestly, I don’t think she has anything to do with it. I would be shocked if she did."

Gypsy and Ryan first connected in 2020 when the COVID-19 pandemic started. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the two couldn't meet until July 2021. During an interview with PEOPLE, Gypsy Rose shared that Ryan had seen her through some really good times and hard times. She mentioned that Ryan was probably the most compassionate soul that she had ever met. Gypsy added that Ryan was very patient with her because she could be a lot to handle.
Gypsy and Ryan obtained a marriage license in Chillicothe, Missouri, on June 27, 2022, while she was still serving time. Later, on July 21, 2022, the former couple tied the knot in a small prison ceremony with no guests. Everything was going well until 2024. It was Gypsy who filed for divorce from Ryan on April 8, 2024.
