The Hero No. 1 of Bollywood, Govinda had ruled the '90s era with his slapstick comedy and excellent dancing. An actor par excellence, Govinda has always been considered as a mass entertainer. Recipient of Filmfare Award for Best Comedian, Govinda had made his acting debut in 1986 with the film, Ilzaam. Apart from his stellar performances, Govinda has always grabbed the limelight for his constant linkup rumours with his co-stars. Be it his affair with his Ilzaam co-star, Neelam Kothari or Hadh Kar Di Aapne co-star, Rani Mukerji, Govinda’s personal life has always attained a lot of attention.

Govinda had married Sunita Munjal on March 11, 1987, in an intimate temple wedding ceremony and had kept it as a secret from the media for four years. Even though the two were completely opposite to each other, their love for dancing had brought them closer. Married for 36 years with two adorable kids, Tina Ahuja and Yashvardhan Ahuja, Govinda and Sunita have been each other’s pillar of strength through thick and thin. In a recent interview, Sunita talked about falling in love with Govinda and why it is difficult to be a star wife.
In an interview with ETimes, Govinda’s best half, Sunita Ahuja opened up about falling in love with him when she was just 15. Revealing her love story, Sunita said, “I used to stay at my sister’s house and my jijaji was Govinda’s mama. So Govinda stayed with my sister for three years and it was there that I met him for the first time. When we were young, we used to dance together, and my jijaji would also encourage us. We started dating and I was married at the age of 18, Tina was born when I was 19. If you ask Govinda, he will say Sunita got me in this child marriage.”
In the same interview, Sunita further revealed why it is useless to be a star wife. In her words, “Not just Govinda, it is a useless thing to be any star’s wife. You have to be very strong to be an actor’s wife but we fell in love when I was 15 years old. Ours was love at first sight and despite all the ups and down, we don’t leave each other. Govinda and I have been married for 36 years, ours is a strong love; we are not meant to divorce, it's not what my parents have taught me. When I got married, my mother told me that I can leave my husband’s home only when I die. One has to sacrifice a lot to be an actor’s wife.”

Sunita also talked about the challenges she faced when Govinda had kept himself busy while shooting for his films. The beautiful star wife stated how her day started and ended with managing her kids, leaving hardly any time for herself. Talking about the same, Sunita retorted, “My days were all about taking care of the kids; I don’t even remember going out for a dinner with him during those days. I also gave a lot of time to other kids in the family as well. Now since the kids have grown up, I travel a lot, and am rarely in Mumbai.”
