Govinda is one of the most-loved actors of the 90s and has appeared in more than 150 films. Known for his satirical performances and dance skills, he has left an undeniable mark on the film industry. He was the leading actor throughout the 1990s and was last seen in Sikander Bharti's 2019 comedy-drama, Rangeela Raja. However, lately, he has been hogging the headlines for his personal life, from health scares to divorce rumours, and now the buzz around his financial struggles has once again brought the actor's name to the limelight.
Govinda has been the media's favourite, and every few months, an old video or a random gossip thread brings him back to the limelight. However, most recent speculation has focused on the star's downfall. And this time, the spotlight has fallen on the actor because of his alleged financial crisis. Yes! There's been recent buzz that Govinda is facing financial issues, and in response, his nephew, Vinay Anand, has now addressed the rumours, sternly shutting them down.

Speaking on the HindiRush podcast, Vinay Anand dismissed the rumours outright and questioned how such narratives even gain traction. Addressing speculation about Govinda's alleged financial issues, Vinay said the actor was a superstar and could easily earn Rs. 25-30 lakhs just by showing up. He added that people are calling Govinda poor and broke, which doesn't make sense, especially for someone like Govinda, who would charge crores in the '90s alone. He was quoted as saying:
"He is a superstar, Govinda aaj woh ek jagah khade hojaaye Rs. 25-30 lakh rupaya aaramse mil jaaye. Ye log jisko gareeb bol rahe hain… ye log bewakoof hain. Log likh rahe hain Govinda sadak par aagaye, Govinda ke saath ye hogaya… Abe pagalon, kidhar ho, kiske liye bakwaas kar rahe ho. He is 90s superstar who would charge in crores for films."

In the same conversation, Vinay Anand reminded trolls of Govinda's peak years in the industry. He questioned how the trolls could even say that Govinda could end up on the streets. Vinay further compared Govinda's earnings from his films to those of other actors. The star's nephew called the trolls out for making such senseless assumptions about the legend. He was quoted as saying:
"Jab Lokhandwala mein Rs. 12-13 lakh mein flat aata tha . He used to charge Rs. 1 crore for one film. How can you say ke woh sadak par aagaye hain. 70-80 filmein karne ke baad, 5 filmon mein Govinda ne jitna kamaya shayad he kisine kamaya hoga… aur pata nahi aise kitne stars ghoom rahe honge jinke paas paise nahi honge. Tum itne bade legend ke baare mein aise kaise bewakoofi waali baatein kar sakte ho. Mujhe bahot ajeeb lagta hai."

Speculation about Govinda having financial issues gained traction after the actor was spotted dancing at a school's annual day function. Govinda arrived at Sangamm International School in a black-and-white outfit. He went up to the stage, where people asked him to dance, and broke into an impromptu performance to his hit song, Main Toh Raste Se Jaa Raha Tha. However, once the video clips of the event surfaced online, rumours began that the actor was dancing at schools and private events to make ends meet.
