One such mother-in-law is Genelia Deshmukh’s aai (as she lovingly calls her). Genelia shares a very warm bond with her mother-in-law, Vaishali Deshmukh. Genelia, who considers her mother-in-law as her confidant and has always spoken volumes about her also states that she is more than a daughter to her. Time and again Genelia shares pictures of her family, especially of her mother-in-law on her Instagram handle.
On October 10, 2019, Genelia took to her Instagram handle and wished her aai with a warm message. she posted a picture with her aai and captioned it as "Dearest Aai... I wish you a happy birthday and I hope that all the best things only come your way… Making you proud of us, is our mission at home... Thank you for being such an amazing inspiration to us… How blessed and fortunate Am I, that you are not only his mother but my friend… Love you and aspire to always be like you… Happy Birthday Aai."
Riteish and Genelia are considered as one of the most loved couples of Bollywood. The couple often makes their fans drool over their pictures and social media PDAs. In an interview with The Times of India, Riteish and Genelia had talked about their first meeting. He had shared, "I was flying to Hyderabad for the test shoot of Tujhe Meri Kasam and I was told that the girl opposite me would be there. I walked out of the airport and met Genelia’s mom. Then I saw this tall girl looking in the opposite direction, completely ignoring me. I was like, ‘Why is she behaving like this?’" Genelia had further added, "The minute I spoke to him, I realised he was a nice person. On the set, Riteish binds people. I didn’t know anything about films then but he made it look so easy. Also, I found it endearing how he was so respectful of my parents and elders."
Genelia had also shared her love story with Riteish and had stated, "I was completely floored by Riteish’s personality. I think guys like him are rare in today’s world. I love listening to him and enjoy his views. Falling in love was gradual. Every stage was played out very correctly — be it friends, be it best friends or life partners." Talking about how the two started dating each other and how their love had flourished, Riteish had revealed, "We started working as strangers, then began understanding each other. Off the sets, we soon became best friends. I would discuss architecture with her while she would discuss college and exams with me! The beauty of a relationship is when you get used to a person; it is not sudden. It is just a process, and you don’t realise when love happens. After I came back from the Hyderabad schedule, I started missing her. I wondered whether it was right to call her or not. That dilemma lasted for a few days."
On August 14, 2019, Genelia had taken to her Instagram handle to remember her father-in-law. Her father-in-law passed away on August 14, 2012 due to liver cancer. She had shared a couple of pictures from the remembrance ceremony, and had written, "Miss you Pappa every single day." Take a look at the pictures:
In an interview with DNA, Ritiesh had revealed how Genelia had been on his side as constant support while he was coping the huge loss of his father. He had stated, "Genelia. Not because I am married to her. That is irrespective but eventually, she is my strength, my support. To have someone who understands when you like to talk, and when you don’t, is incredible. I don’t like to talk about. I don’t talk. So even for her to sit next to me and share that silence was helpful. I value the silences more than the chats."
