Gayatri Joshi enjoyed a short stint in Bollywood, when she rose to fame with her performance in the Shah Rukh Khan starrer film, Swades. However, at a time when everyone expected to see more of her mesmerising performances on-screen, the diva decided to step down from the film industry and married businessman, Vikas Oberoi. Recently, the diva grabbed all the headlines as news of her and her husband meeting a fatal road accident in Italy surfaced. While Gayatri and Vikas were safe, a Swiss couple who was in one of the cars during the headlong collision died, after their car caught fire.
According to a recent report in Daily Mail, Gayatri Joshi’s husband, Vikas Oberoi is being probed under investigation, after the death of the Swiss couple during the multiple vehicle collision that took place at the Sardinia Supercar Tour as part of the luxury cars parade from Teulada to Olbia. For the unversed, the accident involved a mini-truck, a Lamborghini and a Ferrari, along with Vikas’ car. If found guilty, Vikas might be charged with double road homicide and can face seven years of imprisonment.

In yet another report by the Italian publication, L'Unione Sarda, Vikas came under the spotlight in the case of double road homicide since his blue Lamborghini Huracan was one of the prime vehicles in the collision. While the roof of their car was ripped off during the impact, both Gayatri and Vikas, who were inside the car, were left unharmed.
Back on October 4, 2023, when the news of Gayatri Joshi and her husband being involved in a car accident surfaced, several people and fans of the actress were worried about her safety. However, in a confirmatory revelation with the Free Press Journal, Gayatri announced that she and Vikas were absolutely fine. She had said:
“Vikas and I are in Italy. We met with an accident here.. With gods grace, we both are absolutely fine.”

In an earlier interview with Bollywood Hungama, Gayatri Joshi had opened up about her decision to step down from the showbiz world, and instead start the family life. For the unversed, right after a year of the release of her debut film, Gayatri tied the knot with Vikas Oberoi. Speaking about taking such a bold decision, Gayatri called it totally unplanned. In her words:
“I had an open mind and was willing to hear scripts. I believed a great opportunity would come my way soon. While I received awards for Best Newcomer, sometimes things don’t go as planned.”
