Did you know when Shah Rukh Khan met Gauri Khan, he was only 18 and she was only 14? Yes, teen Shah Rukh had bumped into Gauri at a party and they went out for their first date at Delhi's Panchshila Club. In 1991, after facing a lot of hurdles, Shah Rukh and Gauri had tied the knot and came to Mumbai, for him to pursue his passion for acting. Over the years, his better-half, Gauri hasn't just stood by her husband's projects, she has endorsed them too.
Gauri Khan believes that there are only positives in being the wife of superstar, Shah Rukh Khan. At the launch of a book titled Gravittus Ratna, Gauri interacted with the media and was asked the positive and negative effects that she experiences in her professional career being Shah Rukh's wife. Gauri replied, "I think because of who he (Shah Rukh) is, there are a lot of positives. I only take the positives and I don't take the negatives. Even if there are some negatives, I have to brush it aside and the reason is very simple because he helped me while launching Gauri Khan Designs, so, he is very important to me. Jokes apart, he has done a lot for our family. He is a great father and husband. I have to say that there are only positives being his wife and I would not like to share anything negative."
When asked how she manages to distance herself from the media glare despite being King Khan's wife, Gauri Khan retorted, "I feel that I am leading a very normal life, where I am just another working woman like anyone else. I pick and choose when I want to be in spotlight, which is only connected to my work and when I need to use the media. I feel media is important when you are showcasing your work as people need to know what you are doing. So, I enjoy that part as well."
While Shah Rukh Khan has always been in the limelight and media scrutiny, somehow the Khans have managed to keep their personal life private and are seldom seen at public outings. Gauri had once stated to Vogue, “My life is with Shah Rukh and the kids. He is the best husband and father I could ever ask for. I always say that I am so fortunate to be with Shah Rukh Khan, the man. I don't come from a space where I gush and praise—the world is doing enough of that. I like to keep my love for him private and inside the doors of Mannat.” (Also Read: Malaika Arora Takes A Pick From Boyfriend Arjun Kapoor's Closet, Makes Us Wonder Who Wore It Better)
And in Shah Rukh Khan's words, “We give marriage too much importance; we're trying too hard. Things that are done with ease, acceptance and love will always be successful. The best thing we do is wake up in the morning and have a cup of tea and family time. I can't understand the importance given to Gauri and my marriage—if you can keep a marriage ordinary, that's what makes it special.”
At the launch of Zoya, the diamond boutique from the House of Tata in Delhi, Gauri Khan was interviewed by Vogue. When asked, “What is the first piece of jewellery your husband gifted you?” Gauri had replied, “A gold wedding band.” “Is there an item of jewellery you would like to gift to your daughter, Suhana Khan?” to this, Gauri had answered, “My mother's polki set, the one that she had worn for her wedding. It is very special to my heart, so I would like Suhana to have it.” Speaking of balancing professional and personal life, Gauri had retorted, “Suhana and Aryan are now at university and AbRam is in school, so there's more time for design-related work. For me, it's all about balancing your priorities.”
It was Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal’s sangeet ceremony in December 2018 when we had got to see Shah Rukh Khan and Gauri Khan in a whole new avatar. Gauri had totally overshadowed her star husband, Shah Rukh when it came to her phenomenal dance performance and we had only gaped in wonderment as to how wonderful they both had looked while dancing together.
In an interview with the Mumbai Mirror, King Khan had revealed that he broke a ‘ritual’ for the first time for his performance with his wife. He had revealed, “My wife trained with Shaimak Davar and his young dancers were with us that evening too. She was dancing on stage after 10-20 years, it was very sweet of her. I don’t rehearse with my heroines, but this time I practiced my steps backstage. (Laughs) With the wife you have to, especially if she is a trained dancer.” (Also Read: Dipika Kakar Ibrahim Reveals BTS 'Selfie' Secret About Shoaib Ibrahim, Her Sister-In-Law Also Agrees)
