Gaurav Khanna's Divorce Row, Akanksha Chamola Called Him 'Red Forest' And His Love An Act

Gaurav Khanna is one of the biggest names of Indian television, whose fame skyrocketed when he essayed the role of 'Anuj Kapadia' in Anupama. The actor grew even more popular when he won two shows, Celebrity MasterChef and Bigg Boss 19. Gaurav has been a part of the television industry for decades, from kids to their grandmas recognising him at a glance. Besides his career, his personal life with his nine-year-younger wife, Akanksha Chamola, is also widely discussed.

Recently, in June 2026, Akanksha revealed on Lock Upp Season 2 that she and Gaurav have been estranged for a year and are headed for divorce. It has brought back her comments about Gaurav "acting" out his love for her and pretending to be a green flag.

Akanksha Chamola cited issues in marriage with Gaurav Khanna, called him a 'red forest'

Towards the end of Gaurav Khanna's Bigg Boss stint, Akanksha Chamola appeared in an interview with Telly Masala, where she was asked about her thoughts on her husband being a green flag. She jovially took a dig at Gaurav, saying that he was a "very good actor" whose performance as a green flag seemed very believable to the audience. He further stated that, as a wife, it was quite natural for her to be focused on his shortcomings rather than his goodness. As per her, it was the wrong question to ask of a wife. Akanksha's comments, made in jest, are now being seen in a more serious light, given their split. Her exact words were:

"Gaurav bohot accha perform kar rahe...bohot acchi acting kar rahe. He's a very good actor. Aisehi duniya ko bhramit rakhiye. Sabko lagna chahiye wo bhohot acche green flag hai...Wife se ye sawal sabse galat hota hai. Har wife ko apne pati mein koi na koi kami dikhti hi hai."

In the same interview, when the host asked Akanksha to cite one red flag about Gaurav Khanna, she laughed and said she'd rather call him "red forest" than "red flag." At that moment the one red flag quality that came to her mind was him being very particular about his food. As per Akanksha, Gaurav gets really "grumpy" when he doesn't get his food on time or up to his taste. She found it "annoying" that his mood swings were influenced by food. She further mentioned that it was not a major problem but still bothersome. She stated:

"Ek quality? Main red forest bolungi...Wo bohot particular hai kahne ko lekar. Matlab unko bhuk itni zyada lagti hai na har ek cheez ki, wo cheez mujhe bohot annoy karti hai. Matlab unke sare moods sirf khane se related hai. Agar khana nehi mila toh wo grumpy ho jate hai. Khana accha nehi mila toh wo grumpy ho jate hai. Toh ye barahi vichitra sa hai."

Akanksha Chamola's confession on Lock Upp 2 came as a surprise to Farah Khan, who appeared visibly taken aback. While the decision left everyone shocked, the actress clarified that there is no bitterness between her and Gaurav Khanna, and they will continue to love and respect each other. However, over time, they realised that they may not be right for each other as life partners. She recalled how their families suggested they spend some time apart before making the decision, which really cleared their minds. She said:

"There is nothing bad between Gaurav and me. We still talk to each other, but we feel that we are not right for each other as partners. That is because we both want different things in life."
