Shiney Ahuja made his Filmfare Award-winning debut with the film, Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi in 2006, which was followed by his picture-perfect portrayal of the lover boy in the film, Gangster: A Love Story the same year. Thereafter, he wooed audiences with his subsequent releases such as Wo Lamhe, Life In A Metro, Bhool Bhulaiyya, Welcome Back and more. However, at a time when his audience simply wished for more from his impeccable acting mettle, he got embroiled in the matter of a rape case in 2011, and was sentenced to seven years of imprisonment.
According to the latest statement issued by the Bombay High Court, it has authorised Shiney Ahuja for a 10-year renewal of his passport. The ruling came after Shiney had appealed for his passport to be renewed for a longer period of time. Moreover, ever since he was granted bail, Shiney has already renewed his passport six times, and thus it can be concluded that he holds no risks for flights. According to Shiney’s lawyer, the actor was earlier put through a lot of difficulty when his passport was permitted to be renewed just for a year, since many foreign nations do not permit Indian nationals to stay with a passport that has a validity of less than six months.

For the unversed, it was in June 2009 when Shiney’s 19-year-old domestic help had registered a complaint against the actor, on the grounds of him sexually assaulting her in his home. He was immediately booked under Section 376 of rape and Section 506 of threatening to kill of the Indian Penal Code. During the trial, while the domestic help initially withdrew all accusations, but the judge believed her to be falsely pressurised and as a result, Shiney was condemned to seven years of imprisonment in 2011.
Speaking about the actor’s personal life, Shiney got married to his long-time girlfriend, Anupam Gupta in 1997. His loving wife has stood beside him like a pillar of strength during his difficult times, and has even fought for him. It was her efforts that helped the actor in getting a bail. The couple is blessed with a daughter, Arshiya.

Shiney Ahuja’s career took a downward slope due to his involvement in the rape case. He was not offered any help from the film industry for the same. One of the much-loved faces in Bollywood, Shiney was last seen in the 2015 film, Welcome Back. After which, he has completely stepped away from the limelight and his whereabouts are not known at all.
