The missing case of Savannah Guthrie's mother, Nancy has entered its fourth month and there seems to be no sign of an arrest. For the unversed, 84-year-old Nancy went missing in February 2026, leaving her entire family devastated. Since then, multiple officials and netizens have shared their theories on social media. However, a while ago, a retired FBI agent came forward and slammed all theories that are making rounds on social media.
Ever since Nancy Guthrie has been kidnapped, multiple theories have circulated on social media, suggesting different things. Amid that, one is the 'wrench attack' theory. If reports are to be believed, the theory claims that Nancy's kidnapper might be someone, who is being controlled by a 'mastermind', to demand money from the victim’s family. Reportedly, the name comes from an old joke.

Recently, a retired FBI agent named Jason Pack had a conversation with Parade, during which he slammed all the online theories and the ‘wrench attack’ theory about Nancy Guthrie’s kidnapping. He shared that even though he respects it, he requested the people to not comment on it without knowing all the updates. He was quoted as saying:
"Regarding the wrench attack theory, I’ll be respectful here because I know people mean well. But not one of us outside this investigation has read the case file. We haven’t seen the forensic reports, the communications records, or the full body of evidence that investigators are working from every single day. The FBI and Pima County aren’t building their strategy around outside theories on cable news. They’re working from facts the rest of us simply don’t have access to."

He further claimed that cyber hackers are in search of opportunities, where they exploit the situation. Jason stated that when a person gets kidnapped, some scammers might try to pretend as kidnappers and demand money. Highlighting this, retired FBI agent requested fans to let the investigators examine carefully. In his words:
"We all know that cyber scammers are also opportunistic. It does seem that the original communication to the family may have been real. Everything that followed has to be evaluated against that baseline. That evaluation is happening every day by people who have actually read the file."

In the past four months, multiple shocking details have been revealed about Nancy Guthrie's missing case. Recently, reports claimed that a human skeleton was found near Nancy's Arizona home, sparking concerns. However, it was eventually revealed that it is no connected to Nancy or her kidnapping case. An anthropologist stated, "It was the remains of an individual that was buried hundreds of years ago — maybe up to 1,000 years ago."
