Farah Khan is one of the talented choreographer-turned-filmmaker in Bollywood. She rose to fame with her impeccable skills, be it through her unique moves on the dance floor or through her role behind the scenes as a director. For the unversed, Farah's professional journey started off with absolutely no support from within the film industry and went onto cement her name like no other. She has directed films like Om Shanti Om, Tees Maar Khan and Happy New Year. In her personal life, she is married to Shirish Kunder and the duo is blessed with triplets.
In an interaction with Nova IVF Fertility, Farah Khan recalled her life in her 20s as a young adult. The filmmaker remarked stemming from a weird family, and added being raised to be completely work-oriented. Moreover, she added that how the idea of marriage never crossed her mind at that age because of her mother’s fear, who threatened to throw Farah out of their home if she got married early. Talking more about it, Farah said:
“Marriage was not on my mind at all. I think at 22 or something, I thought I will get married but I have a weird family. They got together and they said we will kick you out of the house if you get married this young, without doing anything in life. So they were the complete opposite of what normal parents would do.”

Moving forward in the conversation, Farah Khan discussed more about her mother’s scary rule against marrying early for her. The choreographer emphasised that her mother, more than anything else, wanted the former to be financially independent and make something productive out of her life, before getting married. In her words:
“My mother said I’ll throw you out of the house. You have to make something of your life. You have to be financially independent before you get married.”
Farah Khan got married to eight-years-younger, Shirish Kunder in 2004. Interestingly, back in the day, nobody really thought that their marriage would last more than a year. In fact, many were totally sanguine that Farah wouldn’t remain with Shirish and would ultimately end up getting married again, a fact that became a frequent joke amongst many in her circle of acquaintances.

In the concluding segment of the interview, Farah Khan discussed briefly about the difficulty she faced to conceive her kids, and it wouldn’t have been possible without the intervention of IVF procedures. Moreover, Farah added that if she and her hubby wouldn’t have been blessed with kids in their lives, they both would have probably killed each other. Expressing more, she said:
“If there was no IVF, I probably would not have had kids and I think either Shirish would have killed me or I would have killed him by now. By now, we would have killed each other because the children are a big factor in keeping everyone together.”
