While we longed to watch the show, we were more excited about witnessing who would be Ekta’s new Anurag and Prerna. And when she unveiled them, we couldn’t stop drooling! Ekta Kapoor had chosen Parth Samthaan as her Anurag and Erica Jennifer Fernandes as her Prerna. And how we love the bittersweet on-screen chemistry of this duo! Off-screen too, Erica and Parth share a great relationship and that is what gave a spark to these two co-star’s dating rumours. A SpotboyE report had quoted a source saying, “It seems that Erica and Parth are now more than just good friends, say the sources we have parked on the sets of Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2. There are hushed whispers on the sets of this Ekta Kapoor show that Erica and Parth have probably developed romantic feelings for each other.”
This was not the first time when Parth Samthaan and Erica Jennifer Fernandes were linked together. Sometime back, The Tribune had quoted a source as saying, “Parth and Erica have been inseparable and are always together. They both arrive on the set together and wait for each other’s pack-up to leave together. They are very fond of each other and clicked since the day they met. Parth is always in Erica’s make-up room and they find their way to each other even in between shots. Parth also went to meet Erica’s family and they seem to adore him.”
While we all have been waiting to let the truth out of the horse’s mouth, Erica Fernandes, in an interview with Hindustan Times shunned all dating rumours and blurted out the truth. She was quoted as saying, “It is news to me that such rumours are out there. But, I guess, rumours are a part and parcel of the entertainment industry. I have known Parth since we started working together on our TV show and we shoot every day. We are good friends and have a great working relationship. Whenever we chill together, we have a whole bunch of people with us. When we go for events, we are often leaving from our set, so yes, we do leave together. That doesn’t mean we go home together. Erica Fernandes also shared that dating rumours do not bother her and stated, “People believe what they want to believe. We are good friends but we are not dating. I can’t stop them nor can I explain things to everyone. From day one, we got along well. And link-ups are a common occurrence in shows with romantic storylines. It doesn’t bother me as I know the truth and I can’t stop them.” Erica also shared if she would ever date an actor, “I can’t say who I would date or not. For me, the person is important, his profession is not.”
If you happen to scroll through Erica Fernandes and Parth Samthaan’s Instagram profile, you will notice that the duo share a great bond. Speaking about Erica, Parth had stated sometime back in an interview, “I remember meeting Erica for the first time on the set. We hit it off right away. Erica and I are around the same age so, it was really easy to get along with her. She is an amazing person and we have a lot of fun in between shots. She is an experienced actress and is multi-talented so I get to learn a lot from her. It's great that our off-screen friendship is translating really well on-screen and viewers are enjoying our on-screen chemistry.”
In a 2018 interview with The Telegraph, Parth Samthaan had spoken about his experience upon working with Erica. He had shared, “She’s a wonderful person, when I got to know her. I’ve known her since the past month or so and she’s very sweet and caring. She’s a wonderful actor. It’s not like we have shared a personal connection yet, but we respect each other. I hope that even in the future, we bond like this. There are many other characters in the show who are equally bubbly and co-operative — like the actors playing my parents, my siblings. They’re all jovial and we are bonding just like a family. Sometimes it doesn’t even feel like that we are shooting.
