"We are out of time" were the last words of the pilot aboard the Learjet 60 that tragically crashed in Greenacres, Florida, on November 1, 2026. The tragedy claimed at least nine lives. The horrifying audio of the last moments between the controller and the pilot has been making rounds online, showing how a perfectly normal conversation turned into fear within minutes.

Amid the buzz around the ill-fated flight, a female pilot named Emily Shelton is being connected to the tragedy. While she has issued a clarification assuring her well-being, she was previously linked to a horrifying incident of her own. It was only in August 2026 that she made an emergency landing on a Florida highway.

Emily Shelton clarifies she was not the pilot on N722BD

Emily Shelton's name started making rounds on social media, as many confused the Learjet 60 crash with the August 2026 I-10 incident, as both took place in Florida. However, Emily has now clarified that reports claiming she was the pilot of N722BD are false and that she is safe. On her TikTok account, Emily shared a story asking people not to spread misinformation while also expressing her condolences over the tragedy. She was quoted as saying:

"I was recently made aware that there are rumors that I was the pilot of the recent crash in Palm Beach. I would like to respectfully clarify I was not. I ask that people please stop speculating and spreading misinformation about this tragedy and be respectful of those involved. My heart goes out to all those lost and affected. RIP N722BD."

While Emily Shelton is safe, she was involved in her own flight incident months ago. A 2022 Citrus High School graduate who became a flight instructor before she turned 22 was recognized as the person who made the emergency landing after an engine emergency forced her to land a small airplane on I-10.

Emily Shelton was just 21 years old when she showed extreme calm and skills under pressure that would have shattered anyone. On August 3, 2026, while giving a student his first flight lesson in a 1974 Piper Cherokee, she noticed something was wrong. She immediately contacted ATC and said, "Our oil pressure is dropping down into the red, and we do have fumes in the cockpit from the oil."

Within seconds, the engine began to fail, and Emily realized that they wouldn't be able to reach the airport. The incident was the ultimate test of her skills, and she came through, showing her quick thinking and skills. She lined up the aircraft with the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 near mile marker 14, close to the Davis and Scenic highways interchange in Pensacola.

A dashcam video of what happened next showed her guiding the aircraft beneath an overhead highway sign and bringing the plane down on the interstate. Thanks to her skills, no one was injured during the emergency landing, neither on the plane nor on the ground. The air traffic control recording shows Emily Shelton remained focused.

Emily Shelton's remarkable actions earned her the Escambia County Sheriff’s Medal and national recognition. A couple of weeks later, on September 11, 2026, she received a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to fly with the U.S. Navy's prestigious Blue Angels.

Chilling audio from a Learjet 60 showed the pilot calling mayday

The Learjet 60 plunged into a residential neighborhood in Greenacres, Florida, on Sunday, November 1, 2026, leaving at least nine people dead. The tragedy has come months after Emily Shelton's flight incident. The audio between the pilot and ATC starts with a normal update about the weather conditions; the pilot informs the controller of turbulence.

However, seconds later, the conversation changes completely, as the jet's crew repeatedly issues distress calls while the aircraft loses altitude at an alarming rate. The pilot can be heard saying, "We're descending 8,000 - mayday, mayday - we're descending 10,000 feet per minute." Moments later, she once again informs the controller that the plane is descending at 20,000 feet per minute.

Her fear is evident as she tells ATC, "We're going to crash into the ground." In another chilling transmission captured in air traffic control audio, a female crew member was heard shouting, "Holy f**k we're out of time," moments before the aircraft nose-dived into the ground. While the identities of the pilots and passengers are still not revealed, the incident has left everyone shocked.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the victims of the Learjet 60 and their families.
