Elon Musk’s ex-wife, Justine, reveals how he addresses his children’s mothers
In Alex Gibney’s new documentary Musk, which is scheduled to be released on October 16, 2026, Justine revealed that the SpaceX chief refers to the mothers of his 14 children as "breeders”. Wilson also said that for the tech mogul, “the breeders are interchangeable.”
Wilson was married to Musk from 2000 until 2008. The former couple welcomed six children together, including their son Nevada Alexander, who died at 10 weeks old. They are also parents to twins Vivian and Griffin and triplets Kai, Saxon and Damian.
In one of the segments of the documentary, Wilson discussed the dominance of Musk in their relationship, as she recalled that during their first dance together post their wedding, Musk told her that he was the "alpha" in their relationship. Not just this; throughout their marriage, Musk made her feel insignificant and also manipulated her emotionally, as she said, “I learned the term 'gaslighting' through my relationship with Elon.”

Elon Musk met Justine Wilson while they were students attending Queen's University in Ontario, Canada. Elon was one year senior to Justine. Soon, they fell in love and tied the knot in January 2000. Within two months after their marriage, she signed the postnuptial agreement as she trusted her then-husband, Elon.
Justine Wilson revealed that it was 8 years after she signed the postnup that she understood what she had actually done. She had essentially signed away all her rights as a married person, including any claim to community property, except for their house.
In her post-separation Marie Claire essay, Justin revealed that she was treated like an employee by Elon. Justine shared that she felt Elon often believed his opinions were more important than hers and regularly pointed out what he thought she was doing wrong. Penning about the same, she revealed:
“He had grown up in the male-dominated culture of South Africa, and the will to compete and dominate that made him so successful in business did not magically shut off when he came home. This, and the vast economic imbalance between us, meant that in the months following our wedding, a certain dynamic began to take hold. 'I am your wife,' I told him repeatedly, 'not your employee.' 'If you were my employee,' he said just as often, 'I would fire you.'"
There were many warning signs in their relationship from the beginning, but Justine kept ignoring them as she was blindly in love with him. Over time, Justine realized how she was treated in the relationship. Elon routinely criticized Justine's appearance and pushed her to change, such as demanding she dye her hair platinum blonde.
Justine’s misery became evident when she lost their firstborn son, Nevada, to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. She suffered from depression, while Elon was busy building up his fortune. The emotional gap between them widened so much that he filed for a divorce from her in 2008.
