It's been decades since John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy passed away in a tragic plane crash; however, their love story continues to make headlines. Currently, the couple is grabbing attention due to the recently released series, Love Story, created by Ryan Murphy. Amid the buzz and attention about the series, President, Donald Trump has come forward and shared an interesting detail about John and Carolyn's relationship.
For those who do not know, the series, Love Story, which tells the story of John and Carolyn’s dreamy relationship is streaming now on Hulu. Amid that, the President of the United States, Donald Trump recently sat down for a conversation with Fox News’ The Five, during which he revealed that he was close friends with John F. Kennedy and they liked each other. Talking about Carolyn and John’s relationship, Trump was quoted as saying:
"They would go down to Mar-a-Lago together, and they had a very interesting relationship. They would bicker together, in other words have little fights, and then they would make up and start kissing wildly. It was one of those relationships, and you never know how those relationships are going to turnout."

Further in the interview, Donald Trump also spoke about John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy’s death. For those unaware, the couple tragically died in a plane crash in 1999. The duo was accompanied by Carolyn’s sister, Lauren. If reports are to be believed, John and Carolyn were supposed to drop Lauren Martha's Vineyard and they had planned to go to Hyannis Port; however, their plane crashed in the Atlantic Ocean. Recalling the death, Donald Trump explained that it was pretty "tragic".

If reports are to be believed, John and Carolyn first met in the early 1980s. At that time, Carolyn was working with Calvin Klein and John was known as 'America's prince'. Even though they came from different backgrounds, they were instantly drawn towards each other. However, during their dating period, the couple was always followed by paparazzi, which was difficult for Carolyn to process.

After dating for a while, John and Carolyn tied the knot in 1996, in Georgia. It is worth noting that their wedding ceremony was attended by only friends and close ones. Reports also suggest that the couple used to have multiple arguments; however, they remained committed to each other, until their tragic death in 1999.

For those who do not know, the series, Love Story is inspired by the dreamy love story of John F. Kennedy Jr. and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy. It was created by Connor Hines and Ryan Murphy. For those who do not know, the series is streaming now on Hulu. Coming to the cast, the series features Sarah Pidgeon, Paul Anthony Kelly, Naomi Watts and Grace Gummer.

It is worth mentioning that even though fans loved the series, the makers also faced backlash. In the few months, Sarah Pidgeon, who played the role of 'Carolyn Bessette', too faced backlash. In February 2026, Sarah had a conversation with the People Magazine, during which she was quoted as saying:
"(The backlash) reinforced and reminded me of just how beloved these people are, and people are protective of their story. I don't think it changed how I approached the role. It didn't change my impression of who Carolyn was. It reminded me of the weight of this responsibility and wanting to do these people justice."
