According to reports, when Dolly Parton’s health took a turn for the worse over the weekend, her team scrambled to bring her closest family and friends to Nashville. Sources revealed to TMZ that as the hours passed, it became increasingly clear that Dolly’s condition was worsening. This is what prompted her team to quickly arrange travel for her loved ones to be by her side during the tough time.
The sources added that those who were closest to Dolly were initially praying for the singer to recover quickly. They hoped that she would be released from the hospital, similar to all the times in the past when Dolly suffered from health-related issues. But it soon became obvious that what they were hoping for wouldn't come to pass as the situation grew more dire.

For those unaware, Dolly Parton died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville on the morning of August 25, 2026. She had been admitted earlier on August 21, 2026, with several ailments. Dolly had been struggling a lot with health issues in the months leading up to her death. This included immune-system and digestive issues as well as medication-related problems.
Dolly had previously shared that a kidney stone issue in September 2025 led her to skip the highly anticipated launch of Dollywood’s Nightflight Expedition ride. She added that her doctor had advised her not to travel at that time and to take a few days to recover.
On August 26, 2026, it was revealed that Dolly had briefly battled cancer in her final days. The singer was surrounded by her loved ones when she died. As per reports, a small and intimate ceremony is being planned in Nashville in the coming days, where her relatives and close ones will gather to celebrate her life.
More about Dolly Parton's death
In her final interview on August 21, 2026, Dolly admitted that her physical condition began declining when her beloved husband, Carl Dean, passed away. Recalling that time, she claimed that she would often ignore her own health just to look after him.
Dolly mentioned having "female issues" for several months and also struggling with her weight. The country star admitted that she should have paid more attention to her health and revealed that she had been having "hard times" due to her ailments.

Four days after her final interview, Dolly’s nephew, Brian Seaver, announced her death. He said the singer herself had given him the responsibility several years ago. Since then, even though he had imagined what this moment would bring, it only struck him when he was filming the announcement video.
Brian said that their family and the team who have been entrusted with her legacy will make sure that Dolly’s spirit lives with them forever. He ended the statement by saying:
“Dolly called me and said she wants to rest in a beautiful bed of plush cotton because after a life of wearing heavy rhinestones, she finally deserves to be comfortable and have some rest. Rest in peace, Aunt Dolly - Aunt, Granny, Gigi. May God bless Dolly Parton, and may God bless you all. She will always love you.”
