Captain Vikram Batra had sacrificed his life with a smile in the historical war against Pakistan while rescuing one of his fellow soldiers at point 4875 on July 7, 1999. Kargil Hero, Vikram Batra was posthumously awarded the highest wartime gallantry award, Param Vir Chakra, for his incredible role in the Kargil war.
Thanks to the biopic, Shershaah (starring, Siddharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani), his heroic sacrifice is known worldwide, and now the film's writer has shared a rare detail from his personal life.
In an interview with News18, Shershaah's writer, Sandeep Srivastava, shared some rare details about Dimple Cheema and Captain Vikram Batra's relationship. The writer stated that Dimple and Vikram were together for just 40 days. However, the two had known each other for almost 4 years. He said, "When I was doing my research, and I interacted with Dimple, she said that Captain Batra and she knew each other for four years but the time they spent together was just about 40 days." Sandeep also added that he and his team had tried their best to do justice with Dimple's feelings for her eternal love, Vikram.
The writer also praised Kiara Advani, who had brilliantly portrayed the character of Dimple Cheema in Shershaah, and also explained the reason why people are in love with the character building of Dimple's character in the film. He explained, "I think that we have captured the essence of those 40 days, which means a lot to the wonderful lady whom I have a lot of respect. It is the essence of her feelings that is coming through the way Kiara has played the character, and that's what's really sticking to people."
At the end of his interview, Sandeep Srivastava also stated that it's impossible to tell Captain Vikram Batra's story without mentioning the love of his life, Dimple Cheema, as she was an integral part of his life. In his words, "So I do not think there was a need to add anything. It's just the right amount. She is a very integral part of Captain Vikram Batra's life, you cannot tell his story without his relationship with Dimple, and without what he did in the war. I think what we have done is struck the right balance. There are also so many views, which are just the contrary, and they are saying that it is a perfect blend of his personal life and his life as a soldier."
