Dilip Kumar And Saira Banu Are Not Celebrating Their Marriage Anniversary This Year

A marriage is not just about celebrating each other's happiness and milestones. But rather, it is all about being with each other in the times of need. When the day gets gloomy, you need to hold each other's hands and hope for a better day. There is no turning back when you get married, you are both equally responsible for the good and the bad times. Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu have an age difference of 22 years, but it never became a problem in their marital bliss of 53 years. The gorgeous Saira Banu has always been a pillar of support in the life of Dilip Kumar and there was never a day when they had fought. Together they have witnessed the toughest times and stood with each other like rock. And within a few days, they are going to celebrate 54th wedding anniversary. However, the duo will not be celebrating their anniversary this year.

On October 9, 2020, Saira Banu took to her husband, Dilip Kumar's Twitter handle and tweeted the reason for the same. The veteran actress wrote, "Oct. 11, is always the most beautiful day in my life. Dilip Saheb married me on this day and made my cherished dreams come true." Her tweet can be further read as "This year, we are not celebrating. You all know we lost two of our brothers, Ahsan Bhai and Aslam Bhai. The unprecedented turmoil due to the Covid-19 pandemic has taken many lives and caused sorrow in many many families. In the current circumstances, we request all of you, our dear friends, to pray for each other’s safety and well being. May God be with us all. Stay Safe." Check it out below:

For those who don't know, Dilip Kumar had lost both his brothers within just two weeks They both were tested positive for coronavirus in August and were admitted to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai after they had complained of breathlessness. While Aslam Khan, 88, died on August 21, 2020, Ehsan Khan had breathed his last on September 2, 2020. Coming back to Saira Banu and Dilip Kumar's love story, it was the former's mother, Naseem Banu, who had played Cupid between the couple. She had introduced them to each other and had tried to bring them together. After falling for each other, Dilip Kumar had proposed her. At the mere age of 22, Saira ji had tied the knot with 44-year-old Dilip ji in 1966. And rest, as we all know, is history!

We remember in a 2010 interview with The Hindu, Saira ji had talked about the two big dreams of her life. She had stated that she had only dreamt of being famous like her mother and marrying the love of her life, Dilip Kumar. In Saira ji's words, "I had dreamt of only two things in life; to became famous like my mother and marry Dilip Sahab. Allah granted me both, what more could I ask for? Today, Mashallah!
