Instead, multiple fact-checkers online found the rumour to be completely false. At the same time, the viral clips attached to the story were reportedly old videos unrelated to Megan or the breakup. Another viral rumour claimed that Klay accused Megan of cheating on him with one of his teammates. But even this claim appears false. There is no verified accusation from Klay about infidelity. Instead, he has publicly remained silent since Megan Thee Stallion made the infidelity accusations against him.

After Megan Thee Stallion and Klay Thompson's breakup made headlines, another name, Lexie Brown, was dragged into the controversy. The WNBA guard was embroiled in controversy after an internet rumour suggested she was the "other woman" in the relationship. For those unaware, Lexie is a professional basketball player representing the Seattle Storm. She was first drafted in the first round of the 2018 WNBA draft by the Connecticut Sun. She shared an emotional Instagram Story where she accused Klay of cheating on her. Megan claimed that Klay introduced her to his family, which made the relationship serious. But later, he admitted that he could not be "monogamous". Eventually, Megan's representatives confirmed her breakup to TMZ and shared her statement. In her words:

"I've decided to end my relationship with Klay. Trust, fidelity and respect are non-negotiable for me in a relationship, and when those values are compromised, there's no real path forward. I'm taking this time to prioritise myself and move ahead with peace and clarity."
