Speaking on The Awful Announcing Podcast, he shared:

“If I were Dianna Russini, I think her opportunities in the traditional media are going to be slim. So, if I were her, I would embrace being a little notorious. One of the things I would say is, ‘OK, maybe I was literally in bed with someone, but the rest of these guys, they’re figuratively in bed with them. And trust me, much worse than I was. So, yeah, maybe mine was over here, and maybe mine crossed a long, maybe mine was literal, but the figurative banging that’s going on out there, it ain’t much different.’”

Within a week of the scandal, Dianna Russini stepped down from her role at The Athletic on April 14, 2026. In her letter to Executive Editor Steven Ginsberg, Dianna defended herself, stating that she had covered the NFL with professionalism and dedication throughout her career. She said the public discussion had moved far away from facts and turned into constant speculation. Dianna also mentioned that she didn’t step away from her position because she wasn't at fault, but she didn’t wish to give it any further attention.

Reports claim that Dianna Russini had extramarital affairs with other head coaches

Amid Mike and Dianna’s extra-marital affairs, there were claims that it was not her first time and that the journalist had affairs with other coaches previously. An alleged former NFL scout shared on X that Russini had an extramarital affair with two coaches before Mike Vrabel. Though there are no proven facts to claim the allegation.

Talking about Mike and Dianna’s alleged relationship, in the first week of April 2026, Page Six shared a couple of cosy photos of Mike Vrabel and Dianna Russini holding hands and hugging each other on a private rooftop bungalow. The pictures sparked a major conversation on social media as both of them are married to separate people. Later, Page Six also shared a video of the duo kissing each other in a club. The outlet claimed that the clip was from 2020.
