Dhanush And Mrunal Thakur's Past Link-Ups And Dating History Amid Duo's Wedding Date Buzz

South megastar, Dhanush and actress, Mrunal Thakur are back in the headlines once again. The duo caught the attention of internet users and the media when rumours began swirling at the end of last year, in August 2025, that they were allegedly dating. With neither Dhanush nor Mrunal publicly acknowledging the rumours, fans began coming up with their own theories about whether something was truly brewing between the two talented stars.  

Now, in January 2026, Dhanush and the pan-India sensation, Mrunal Thakur, are hogging the limelight once again, following a report which claimed to reveal the duo's alleged wedding date. It was the Free Press Journal that first reported on Dhanush and Mrunal apparently tying the knot on February 14, 2026, on the occasion of Valentine's Day. As the buzz gained immense momentum, with many fans eagerly awaiting an official announcement from either Dhanush or Mrunal, their hopes came to a halt when HTCity reported a while back that there was no truth to the news. Amid this, let's take a look back at Dhanush and Mrunal's past relationships before they were linked to one another.  

Mrunal Thakur and Sharad Tripathi's relationship did not last beyond the TV screens  

It was over a decade back, in 2015, that Mrunal Thakur appeared on the reality show, Nach Baliye 7, with writer, Sharad Tripathi. The duo participated in the show not only as dance partners but also as a couple who were in a relationship. If reports are believed to be true, at the time, their intention behind participating in the show was to convince their families of their bond. While watching Mrunal and Sharad's journey on the show, fans continued to gush over their sweet love story, which was unfolding in real time. However, viewers were soon left disappointed when they came to know that Mrunal and Sharad's relationship did not last beyond the show. None of them openly talked about what led to their split, but apparently, the breakup was mutual, and since then, both have moved on.  

Mrunal Thakur sparked romance rumours with her co-star, Arijit Taneja 

While Mrunal's relationship with Sharad came to an end, she soon sparked romance rumours with Arijit Taneja. He was one of the co-stars she shared the screen with in the TV serial, Kumkum Bhagya. First, it was their friendship which caught viewers' attention as they started making appearances on each other's social media accounts. Eventually, it was Mrunal and Arijit's amazing on-screen chemistry that led fans to believe there might be more to their relationship than just good friends. Their dating rumours were fuelled further when, according to a report by India Forums, Arijit admitted to having a crush on Mrunal. However, he later set the record straight, stating that they are strictly platonic and don't have a romantic relationship.  

Mrunal Thakur was spotted holding hands with rapper, Badshah, leading to dating rumours  

It was during Diwali 2024 that Mrunal Thakur and Badshah were spotted together. Pictures of the alleged couple leaving hand-in-hand after attending their fellow celeb, Shilpa Shetty’s party, made a number of rounds on the internet. Following the pictures going viral, the news that Mrunal and Badshah were dating stayed in the headlines for a long time. The news continued to spread until the rapper took matters into his own hands, shutting down the rumours by posting a cheeky Instagram Story. In the same, Badshah wrote: 

“Sorry to disappoint you again, but jaisa aap soch rahe hain waisa nahi hai.”  

Did Shruti Haasan and Dhanush's on-screen chemistry translate to something more? 

Mrunal Thakur’s love life wasn't the only one which sparked a lot of rumours. Her reportedly current boyfriend, Dhanush, also had his fair share of link-ups with several recognisable names. To start, Dhanush stunned everyone with his performance in the 2012 film, 3, which was directed by Aishwarya Rajinikanth. Here, he and actress, Shruti Haasan played high school sweethearts who eventually got married. After watching them act out the parts of lovers perfectly on screen, fans began to wonder whether their relationship might have also progressed from co-stars to real-life lovers.

When asked about the same in an interview with Filmfare, Shruti clarified that Dhanush is her “important friend.” Additionally, she stated that the South megastar believed in her for the film's role when no one else did. Ultimately, Dhanush and Shruti's connection turned out not to be a romantic one.  

Did Trisha Krishnan call off her engagement after being in a relationship with Dhanush? 

Most are aware that Dhanush and Trisha Krishnan are close industry friends. More than once, they were seen attending parties or events together. While they were reported to have briefly dated, these claims never went too far until things took a dramatic turn. Allegedly, when Trisha was engaged to her then-fiancé, Varun Manian, he was against Dhanush attending their engagement ceremony. Ultimately, news broke that Trisha and Varun had called off their engagement. This led many fans to believe that Dhanush and Trisha's relationship was what prevented her from moving forward with the engagement. 

Dhanush married Rajinikanth's daughter, Aishwarya Rajinikanth  

Although most of Dhanush's relationships in the limelight were rumoured and never officially confirmed, one thing his die-hard fans know is that he has been married to Aishwarya Rajinikanth. It is worth noting that she is the elder daughter of actor, Rajinikanth. The former-couple tied the knot back in 2004. Aishwarya even famously directed her husband in the film, 3. However, in January 2022, after nearly a decade together and becoming parents to two sons, they mutually decided to end their marriage.
