Popular actress, Devoleena Bhattacharjee is a well-known name in the showbiz industry. However, the actress has been missing from the television screen for some time now. Devoleena had created a stir on social media when she surprised everyone after announcing her wedding with her beau, Shanawaz Shaikh. For the unversed, Shanwaz was Devoleena's fitness trainer, and after dating each other for a while, they took the plunge on December 14, 2022.

Devoleena reacts to a troll who called her marriage 'Love Jihad'

Recently, a politician organised a free screening of the recently-released film, The Kerala Story, for girls in Haridwar. Reacting to the pictures, a troll asked if Devoleena Bhattacharjee was also invited to the screening and took an indirect dig at the actress' marriage to a Muslim man. The troll also shared a link to Devoleena'a Wikipedia page in her tweet and called the latter's marriage 'love jihad.

However, known for her bold personality, Devoleena strongly reacted to the troll who called her marriage with Shanawaz Shaikh ‘love jihad’. Reacting to the same, the actress revealed that she already watched the Adah Sharma starrer and she really liked it. The actress also called her husband a ‘true Indian muslim’ and mentioned that he never shies away from taking a stand for the right thing. She wrote:

“Arey Khan saab mujhe bulaane ko zaroorat nahi padhi. Main aur mere husband pehle hi dekh kar agaye the The Kerela Story aur bohot hi acchi lagi hum dono ko hi. TRUE INDIAN MUSLIM naam suna hai kya? Mere pati unme se hi hai jo galat ko galat kehne ki taqat aur himmat dono rakhte hai."

When Devoleena Bhattacharjee shared how social media trolls affect her

Devoleena has been a constant target of trolls ever since she got married to her beau, Shanawaz. While some accused her groom of not spending enough money on her, others simply targeted his religion to bash the couple for their decision to have an intercaste wedding. Earlier, in a conversation with The Indian Express, Devoleena Bhattacharjee opened up about the social media trolling and shared that she never thought about what people would say before tying the knot with Shanawaz. Reacting to the trolls, she stated:

“Frankly speaking, I don’t think about how social media trolls would react when I am making any life decision. We both are more concerned about our happiness and future. I feel if we are good, the blessings from the universe, and help us grow and live together.”

Devoleena Bhattacharjee and Shanwaz’s court marriage 

For her court marriage with Shanwaz, Devoleena was dressed up in a pretty red-hued saree paired with a sheer full-sleeved blouse. The actress also donned a red dupatta on her crown area, which had the blessing 'Sada Saubhagyawati Bhawa' beautifully embroidered on its hem. To accessorise her look, Devoleena wore diamond jewellery, which included a choker, matching earrings and a maang teeka. On the other hand, Shanwaz was seen clad in a black pantsuit for his big day.
