Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone treated their fans with their wedding video on the first episode of Koffee With Karan season 8. As the fans of Ranveer-Deepika came out of the hangover of the surprise video, they noticed an incident from the episode, which irked Ranveer Singh. It was a comment that Deepika made about the early stage of their relationship, when they were not committed, which left Ranveer pissed on national television.
During one of the segments on Koffee With Karan, Deepika talked about the early stages of their relationship. She added that she didn't commit to Ranveer as she had been into difficult relationships in the past, and wanted to be free of strings. While they were allowed to see other people, they would keep coming back to each other. She was quoted as saying:
"I wanted to be single for a while because I had come from difficult relationships. I was going through a phase where I said 'I just don't want to be attached, don't want to be committed'. And I had fun! And then he came along so I didn't commit until he proposed to me. There was no 'commitment as such. Even if we were technically to see other people, we would just keep coming back to each other."

Deepika further shared that she would meet other people, but in her mind, she was committed to Ranveer. The actress was quoted as saying:
"I did meet other people. I wasn’t interested or excited by anyone else that I was seeing. In my mind, I was committed to him. I would meet other people, but at the back of my head, it was like, I am going back to him."
However, soon Karan counter-questioned Deepika, and asked her, who were the people she was referring to. The actress asked Ranveer the same, and he looked pissed as he also wanted the names of the people. He said, "Abi toh tumne bola seeing other people, but I would go back to him. Tumko ab yaad nahi hai." To be safe, Deepika revealed that she doesn't remember the people. Ranveer replied:
"But I remember very clearly."
As soon as the video was uploaded on Reddit, netizens took a dig at Deepika, while some sympathised with Ranveer. One user wrote, "Ranveer was pissed! The way he said 'Very Clearly'... Dudes hurt and pissed!! DP's nose scratch and eyes telling a different story though!" Another commented, "Dont forget she remembered her depression phase right when her movie releases were around the corner."
