Instead of someone uncertain or confused, the 67-year-old reality star had a confident and risk-taking personality. But he died in Arizona from what appeared to be self-inflicted gunshot wound, leaving several questions unanswered. Since the former reality TV star had started living away from the spotlight, he had last shared an Instagram post in December 2025. Darell made the post to promote the items at his antique store in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. In turn, he wrote in the caption that he had received a fresh truckload of collectibles, including gas station signs, neon items, arcade equipment, and more. So, he invited customers to visit his store and wished them "Happy Holidays". In his words:

"Havasu has just received another similar truckload of gas signs, flange signs, and neons, 1545 Industrial Blvd, LHC. We are buying hot rods, gas pumps, and arcade stuff. Come check us out. Happy Holidays."

The tone of Darrell's last Instagram post showcased his passion for the collectibles business, which shaped his life majority of his professional life even after he left spotlight. However, when the news about the 67-year-old's death broke, several netizens filled the comments section of that post with tributes and condolence messages. A user commented, "This is so sad. According to the authorities, the Lake Havasu City Police Department visited Darrell Sheets' home in Arizona after receiving a call early morning on April 22, 2026. After arriving there, they found a man with a gunshot wound and declared him dead at the scene. Later, his identity was confirmed, and the case now remains under investigation. Initial reports suggest he might have suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound, but the officials are waiting for final confirmation.
