The former reality star, who featured alongside his seven siblings in TLC's long-running show, Jon & Kate Plus 8, recently shared an emotional moment from the show.
The 22-year-old estranged son of Kate and Jon Gosselin shared a somber clip from the show on Friday, October 16, 2026, where little Collin struggles to smile as the camera rolls.
Collin Gosselin reflects on his younger self as he thanks people for support after memoir release
The video, shared on Instagram in a black-and-white filter, captures Collin as a child, sitting face-down on the couch as the rest of his family is being recorded for the TLC show. At one point, he looks up toward the camera and gives a faint smile, but viewers are saying his eyes reflected his misery and sadness.
As Collin reflected on his younger version and the strength it took him to move forward after years of alleged torture under Kate's roof, he wrote in the caption:
"If I could go back and talk to the kid I used to be, I'd tell him that we survived more than we ever should have had to, and one day, we'd find the strength to turn that pain into purpose."

In his post, Collin acknowledged that sharing his story meant revisiting parts of his past that he kept private for years. In explaining his decision to be candid about his experiences, he also reflected on the challenge of being vulnerable. He wrote:
"Sharing my story has meant facing parts of my past I spent years keeping to myself. It's not easy to be vulnerable, but there's something powerful about finally giving a voice to the things you once felt you had to keep silent."
Collin also thanked readers and followers who have reached out since the release of his memoir, In the Shadow of Eight: Surviving the Reality of My Childhood. He addressed his supporters by writing:
I don't think I'll ever have the right words to thank everyone who has reached out, shown me love, or trusted me with a piece of their own story. The kindness and support I've received have meant more than you'll ever know. Thank you for making something so personal feel a little less heavy to carry."

Collin's family life played out on television as Jon & Kate Plus 8 followed Jon and Kate Gosselin raising their twins and sextuplets. The couple divorced in 2009 after about 10 years of marriage, with Kate initially receiving primary custody of their eight children.

Collin Gosselin shares years of alleged torture and estrangement from siblings in his tell-all memoir
The book recounts Collin's experiences growing up with his seven siblings: twins Mady and Cara, now 26, and fellow sextuplets Joel, Aeden, Hannah, Alexis and Leah, now 22. He also makes serious allegations about his upbringing and his relationship with his mother, Kate Gosselin, which she has previously disputed.
During an appearance on On Purpose with Jay Shetty, Collin said the family's reality TV image did not reflect what he claims happened behind closed doors. He said, "When it was Jon & Kate Plus 8, even though it looked like America's happiest, biggest family, behind the scenes it was not like that."
Collin alleged that his mother physically and verbally abused him and confined him in a room in the family's unfinished basement. He claimed the room had a bolt lock on the outside and that he was isolated from the rest of the family for extended periods.
Kate disputed his account in a July 2023 Instagram statement, describing his claims as a "distorted perception of reality." After the memoir's release, she responded to a TikTok comment supporting her and wrote, "Rational logical people or anyone who has dealt with mental illness understands what's going on here."
Collin hit back with his own take on Kate's words, telling TMZ, "My mom has said these things time and time again... I've gotten multiple psychiatric evaluations done... I've passed all of them, obviously... maybe it's time for someone else to get one."

Collin has been estranged from his mother since 2016. In her 2023 statement, Kate said she and the siblings had not been directly involved in his life because of what she described as a history of unpredictable behavior and violent tendencies toward them. Jon has publicly supported his son and disputed aspects of Kate's characterization.
