The sequel of the much-loved Bollywood film, Cocktail is set to release in the theatres tomorrow, on June 19, 2026. The 2012 movie, starring Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty is considered an iconic film even today. Because of the same, the expectations from the upcoming film, Cocktail 2, starring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna are very high. Well, continue reading to know what film critics have to say about the much-awaited film.
As per the trailer released, Cocktail 2 is expected to revolve around the love story of ‘Kunal’ (Shahid Kapoor) and ‘Diya’ (Rashmika Mandanna). The two seem to be in a healthy and smooth relationship, until their old friend, ‘Ally’ (Kriti Sanon) enters their life. She brings in a lot of drama and chaos in their relationship and their overall equation, adding humour, emotions and twists. It is worth noting that the plotline of Cocktail 2 seems very similar to the original film, as in the 2012 film, it was ‘Meera’, who unknowingly got in between her friend, ‘Veronica’s’ relationship with ‘Gautam’.

Recently, a film critic named Kuldeep Gadhvi attended the CBFC screening of Cocktail 2, after which he took to his Instagram handle to share a detailed review about the same. In the review, he hailed Shahid Kapoor and Rashmika Mandanna for their mature and warm acting; however, he described Kriti Sanon as the surprise element, who acts as a catalyst in the film. A part of his note can be read as:
"#ShahidKapoor delivers a charismatic and mature performance as Kunal. He perfectly portrays a man caught between love, loyalty, and confusion. His comic timing is excellent, while his emotional scenes carry genuine depth. #RashmikaMandanna shines as Diya, bringing warmth, vulnerability, and strength to the character. She handles both the emotional and lighter moments beautifully. #KritiSanon is the surprise package as Ally. She becomes the catalyst that drives the narrative forward and creates many of the film's funniest and most emotional moments."

Further, Kuldeep Gadhavi appreciated the director of Cocktail 2, Homi Adajania, for his amazing capability to tell relationship stories with style and authenticity. He also hailed Luv Ranjan, the screenwriter, for framing blunt dialogues, emotional scenes and humorous scenes that the young audience would relate to.

Towards the end of the review, film critic, Kuldeep Gadhvi described Cocktail 2 as a ‘refreshing blend’ of romance, comedy and drama. Giving the movie 4 out of 5 stars, he called it a perfect cocktail. In his words:
