When viewers tuned in to watch Chinese content creator, Wang Wefei's livestream on March 9, 2026, nobody thought that they would witness a shocking tragedy unfold in real time. Popularly known as "Sister Wang Zha" among her fans, she suddenly started feeling ill while broadcasting to thousands of viewers. After she suffered from a medical emergency, Yefei passed away, a news which left her audience stunned. For those unaware, Yefei had nearly 130,000 followers on social media and was among the most familiar faces in China's blooming shopping scene. Loyal viewers regularly tuned in to her routine livestreams to see her promote and sell women's clothing.
It was in the morning of March 9, 2026, while Wang Yefei was broadcasting, that the terrifying moment took place. If reports by local news outlets like Jimu News and VNExpress International are to be believed, with each passing second, Yefei started appearing visibly in pain after suddenly grabbing her head and neck in the middle of the livestream. After realising something was wrong with her, she reportedly told nearby staff that she wasn't feeling well.

Within just a few moments, the situation worsened further, and everybody started panicking when Yefei urgently shouted for them to call 120. For those unaware, 120 is the emergency number for ambulances in China. Although Yefei's livestream had begun in the same ordinary fashion, nobody had thought that in the blink of an eye it would turn into a desperate race for help.

After falling ill on her live stream, Wang Yifei was soon rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, while many efforts were made to save her, doctors declared her dead and confirmed that she had suffered a brainstem haemorrhage. The news came as a huge shock, especially to those who regularly followed her content and relied on her recommendations.

If you have ever been part of a shopping livestream in China or seen clips of them online, you might be aware that these livestreams tend to be really energetic. However, in practice, such livestreams often require a demanding work schedule for hosts. The same was the case for Wang Yefei, as, according to VNExpress, she usually streamed for 7 to 10 hours a day. All of this so she could sell clothes to her audience.

Reports suggest that in the weeks leading up to her death, Yefei was dealing with recurring headaches, which apparently began around the Lunar New Year in 2026. Allegedly, to push through the pain and not let it affect her work, Yefei relied heavily on painkillers. Now that Wang Yefei's death is all over the media, this has sparked a lot of discussion online about China's highly competitive online retail market industry and how it puts an unhealthy amount of pressure on livestream sellers daily.

Wang Yefei's death was not only shocking for her fans but also for her near and dear ones. Reportedly, she left behind a 4-year-old daughter. Additionally, one of Yefei's longtime friends revealed that she was watching her livestream just moments before the influencer's health crisis, and when she heard about Yefei's death, it left her completely stunned. According to the friend, Yefei used to only catch four to five hours of sleep each night. She was also the sole person running every aspect of her livestream, in addition to managing sales and shipments.
May Wang Yefei rest in peace.
