It looks like it's a very dark week for the music industry. A few days after the unexpected death of Oliver Tree, today, on June 17, 2026, the legendary musician named Walter Parazaider passed away. For the unversed, he founded the rock band, Chicago and gave some iconic hits. The legendary artist was 81 years old. His demise was confirmed by his wife, JacLynn Parazaider. Walter Parazaider was in hospice care before his death

Recently, legendary musician, Walter Parazaider’s wife, JacLynn Parazaider had a conversation with TMZ, during which she confirmed the death of her husband. She shared that Walter, who was 81 years old, was in hospice care at the time of his tragic death. It is worth noting that Walter passed away on June 17, 2026 at 2:10 AM. Revealing the cause of his death, JacLynn explained that Walter had a long battle with Alzheimer disease, which ultimately took his life. Walter Parazaider’s wife was quoted as saying:

"He had put up a good fight with Alzheimer's and unfortunately it ended tonight. We are going to miss him for sure… We were married for 59 years and we had 59 wonderful years."

Walter Parazaider’s music band, Chicago pens a heartfelt note for him

A few minutes ago, Walter Parazaider’s band, Chicago took to their Instagram handle to share a photo of the musician, in which he looks extremely young. Along with it, they penned a heartfelt note, in which they offered their condolences to his family and loved ones. Further, they recalled his journey and stated that Walter took a lot of effort in building Chicago. He used to rehearse with the band in the basement of his mother’s house. A part of their note can be read as:

"A Rock & Roll band with horns was Walt's idea. He put the band together and they rehearsed in the basement of his mother's home. He is also the one who did the hard work to book shows for the young, unknown band, performing top 40 covers at local bars in and around Chicago. We are forever grateful for his contributions. Perhaps his greatest gift was bringing people together. This amazing music may have never been heard had it not been for Walt's vision."

Walter Parazaider had two daughters

Despite being one of the greatest musicians, Walter Parazaider kept his personal life private. He rarely spoke about his wife or their children. Well, for those who do not know, Walter was married to JacLynn. The duo tied the knot in 1966 and stayed together for nearly six decades. They welcomed two daughters, Laura and Felicia. Even though there is not much available about the daughters, nearly a few moments after Walter's death, Felicia penned a note on her Facebook account. A part of it can be read as:

"I didn’t get back in time. My father, my hero, is gone. He went peacefully about 20 minutes ago. There’s no more pain. No more struggle. I psychically knew I wasn’t going to make it back in time. And I knew that it would be just my mom and him. It’s how it was in the beginning. Just the two of them. And so it should’ve been in the end. Thank you for loving my father, even if you didn’t personally know him."

Fans are heartbroken with Walter Parazaider’s death

Soon after the heartbreaking news of Walter Parazaider’s death made headlines, a lot of fans expressed their sadness towards it. One fan commented, "A phenomenal musician…and 100x a better person. Peace my friend." Another user stated, "My profound condolences to Walt's family. Thank you for sharing your husband and father with us for so many years. He was an amazing musician. Thank you, Walt, for giving us CHICAGO . May you rest in eternal peace. You are free now."
