The Buffy the Vampire Slayer actor, Nicholas Brendon, tragically passed away in his sleep on March 20, 2026. He was 54 at the time of his passing. According to reports, the cause of Nicholas’ untimely death was atherosclerotic and hypertensive cardiovascular disease. He is survived by his father, Robert Schultz, mother, Kathleen Schultz and twin brother, Kelly Donovan. Now, three months after his sudden death, Nicholas’ alleged handwritten will revealed who he left everything to.

Nicholas Brendon’s alleged last will has been revealed three months after his tragic death. According to the court documents filed on June 15, 2026 and obtained by People, it is allegedly a handwritten will of Nicholas Brendon. However, it is unclear when the handwritten will was created. Nicholas included his family and also his ex-girlfriend, Sarah Marker, in the alleged last will. On a piece of lined paper titled 'My Will', Nicholas mentioned that he left everything to his twin brother, Kelly Donovan, also known as Kelton Schultz. He allegedly wrote:

"Sarah gets nothing. Kel gets everything. He can figure it out."

On May 25, 2026, Kelly petitioned to be appointed the personal representative of Nicholas’ estate. Kelly made this request to the court, claiming that Nicholas wanted him to take over after his death. However, the legal documents did not reveal how much money or what assets the Buffy the Vampire Slayer actor owned. A hearing about the following has been scheduled on July 16, 2026. According to Celebrity Net Worth, Nicholas had USD 300 thousand at the time of his death.

Nicholas Brendon’s sudden death left his family, friends and fans heartbroken. His family confirmed the devastating news of his untimely demise. In a statement, the family revealed that Nicholas passed away in his sleep. They mentioned his passion for art. They added that at the time of passing, Nicholas was optimistic about his future. An excerpt of their statement can be read as:

"We are heartbroken to share the passing of our brother and son, Nicholas Brendon. He passed in his sleep of natural causes. Most people know Nicky for his work as an actor and for the characters he brought to life over the years. In recent years Nicky has found his passion in painting and art. He was passionate, sensitive, and endlessly driven to create. While it’s no secret that Nicholas had struggles in the past, he was on medications and treatment to manage his diagnosis and he was optimistic about the future at the time of his passing."

Who is Nicholas Brendon's twin brother, Kelly Donovan?

Nicholas Brendon’s twin brother was born as Kelton Donovan Schultz on April 12, 1971. He is professionally known as Kelly Donovan. According to a Prime Timer report, Kelly and Nicholas were identical twins and were born on the same day, within seconds of each other. Kelly also belongs to the entertainment industry just like his late brother, Nicholas.

But Kelly has stayed away from the limelight throughout his career. Not many know that Kelly appeared as Nicholas’ body double in The Replacements, episode three of season five of the TV series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. In the episode, 'Xander Harris' was split into two, one possessing the good qualities (played by Kelly Donovan) and the other filled with flaws (played by Nicholas Brendon). As Kelly has stayed away from the limelight, little is known about his personal life. According to Nicholas’ Instagram post of April 2022, his twin brother, Kelly, got married in January 2022.
