Sobhita Dhulipala, who is known for her charming role in the show, The Night Manager, is currently hogging the limelight for her latest crime thriller, Cheekatilo. The film premiered on Amazon Prime Video on January 23, 2026. It is directed by Sharan Koppisetty and stars Sobhita as 'Sandhya Nelluri'. Plotline of Cheekatilo

Cheekatilo is a crime thriller that blends crime podcasting, journalism and an engaging murder mystery. The movie follows Sobhita Dhulipala as 'Sandhya Nelluri', who is a crime anchor. The film picks up pace when 'Sandhya' is fed-up of her daily routine and launches her own true-crime podcast. However, things turn personal when her intern tragically dies. This forces 'Sandhya' to uncover hidden truths. She also works closely with the police to reveal the identity of the culprit. Overall, the film focuses on solving the crime. 

Cheekatilo receives mixed reviews from audience

As soon as the crime thriller movie, Cheekatilo was released on Amazon Prime Video, multiple users took to their X (formerly Twitter) handles to share their review of the same. Overall, the film received mixed reviews, as some appreciated Sobhita and her acting, but others were a little disappointed with the weak narrative of the movie. 

One user commented, "Review - #Cheekatilo on @PrimeVideoIN. What a gripping crime thriller. #SobhitaDhulipala completely owns the screen with a performance that’s both restrained and powerful. The film balances tense storytelling with real emotional depth." Another user penned, "The film’s emotional spine is clearly #SobhitaDhulipala. She carries the story with confidence, maintaining a calm intensity throughout. Her performance grows with the film, culminating in a climax that feels earned and emotionally satisfying." A third user shared:

"Cheekatilo stands tall in intent and performance. Sobhita Dhulipala is compelling and the investigation keeps you engaged with the film landing a hard-hitting message. The climax deserves special applause!"

Apart from this, there were a few viewers, who felt that the writing of the crime thriller could have been better. A user shared, "Not a great film. The writing was weak and unconvincing, and the twist in the climax didn't really land. However, the performances and cinematography were excellent!" Another user wrote, "#CheekatiloOnPrime. Attempt to make Only Murders In The Building gone wrong. Less suspense. More melodrama. Very ordinary screenplay. The final plot twist is predictable but not convincing at all."
