Charu Asopa’s personal life has often been a matter of discussion in the public forum. The actress had gone through a lot when her spat with her ex-husband, Rajeev Sen came out in public. Both of them, at various intervals, revealed unkind details of their marital problems out to the world, which garnered a lot of buzz and criticism. However, calling it a truce, the duo got divorced on June 8, 2023, and has opted to co-parent their daughter, Ziana. Interestingly, while Charu’s relationship with Rajeev might have been strained, nonetheless, she still continues to share an amicable bonding with her former in-laws.
Taking to her IG stories on August 17, 2023, Charu Asopa dropped a still of her former sister-in-law, Sushmita Sen from her newest release, Taali. Along with it, Charu penned a special note of appreciation for the former Miss Universe, over her incredible performance in the webseries. For the unversed, Sushmita Sen’s series, Taali is a biopic of the eminent transgender activist, Shri Gauri Sawant. Along with the picture, Charu applauded her didi and wrote:
“What a performance Didi, so proud of you! @sushmitasen #hatsoff Got Goosebumps."

Charu Asopa has always shared a cordial and respectful bond with her former sister-in-law, Sushmita Sen. No matter how many times she has suffered an estranged relationship with her ex-husband, Rajeev Sen, she has always felt a welcoming and cordial connection with Sushmita. Speaking along the same lines in one of her previous interviews with The Times Of India, Charu mentioned:
“Sushmita didi is a wonderful person inside out – she is a wonderful actor and an even better human being. She has always been extremely welcoming to me since the beginning and I will always cherish the bond she and I share. Few bonds are meant to be cherished for life and my relationship with her is one of love adulation and immense respect."
Back in November 2022, when Charu Asopa and Rajeev Sen’s divorce buzz had been all over the headlines, the former, in one of her interviews, had spoken about the kind of support and advice she received from her Sushmita Sen. Charu highlighted that despite being Rajeev’s sister, Sushmita never once told her to reconcile the differences with her estranged husband. Instead, Charu revealed that Sushmita encouraged her to prioritise her own happiness more than anything else.

On September 2, 2022, Charu Asopa and Rajeev Sen, in a joint post had shared their decision to give their marriage a second chance amidst the then-ongoing public spat over their divorce. Sharing a lengthy post on their respective social media handles, the couple admitted prioritising their daughter over anything. However, what caught everyone’s attention was Charu’s nanad, Sushmita Sen’s reaction to the post. Sharing her happiness, the diva wrote:
“I am soooooo happy for all 3 of you!!! Dugga Dugga Shona!!!”
