Charli's red carpet look made a major splash online, as she looked nothing less than a goddess in the outfit. But at one point while posing for pictures, she faced an unexpected wardrobe malfunction.

Charli XCX (real name Charlotte Aitchison) channeled goth and dark glamor as she appeared on the red carpet of the 2026 VMAs in a custom Saint Laurent outfit. The bold and sensual two-piece dress was loosely based on a design from Saint Laurent's fall 2017 ready-to-wear collection, according to the 34-year-old singer's stylist, Chris Horan. The fit featured a long-sleeved cropped top paired with a low-rise pencil maxi skirt.
The long sleeves were made dramatic with an exaggerated cuff and flowing fabric ribbons. The top featured sheer detailing around the bust. Charli flaunted her toned physique in the custom-made midriff-baring outfit. She accessorized it with diamond rings, including a double-mesh gold diamond ring and a bubble white-gold ring with sapphires and diamonds by Fope. Her vision was brought to life by French luxury fashion house's creative director Anthony Vaccarello.
While posing for the paps at the VMAs red carpet, the English singer suffered an awkward wardrobe malfunction. Once, while switching from front to side angles for the photoshoot, her top seemed to slip to one side, exposing part of her upper body that needed to be covered. Even Charli XCX's long, open, middle-parted hair could not save her from the mishap.
Thankfully, Charli's wardrobe malfunction lasted only a few seconds and isn't quite noticeable in her pictures at a quick glance. The online chatter regarding her is also focused mostly on how gorgeous she looked in the black designer ensemble.

For the opening act, Charli joined Madonna and Sabrina Carpenter on stage to perform a rendition of Danceteria Afterhours. The 2026 MTV Video Music Awards took place in Los Angeles at the Peacock Theater, marking the show's first West Coast edition since 2017. Charli's music not only brought her fame, but helped her find love as well. In her personal life, she is married to her beau, George Daniel.
The couple's romance reportedly began around 2022, while they were collaborating on music. Daniel co-produced several tracks on Charli's albums, including the highly acclaimed Crash and Brat. She first hinted at the news through a private Instagram Story before confirming it publicly in early 2024.
Charli's Brat album, released in 2024, received critical praise and garnered a lot of love from fans, and it was marked by Daniel's contribution, who has always been her biggest supporter. While his primary work remains with the band The 1975, fans are excited and patiently waiting for more joint work from the newlywed couple. The couple tied the knot on July 19, 2025, and have since maintained a low-key life away from the spotlight.
