In September 2026, Sydney Sweeney was in Italy for the Venice Film Festival, where she turned heads in her usual bold avatar. Scooter Braun also reportedly joined her there, proving the reports that he has been chartering private planes and following her around the globe to prove his love and commitment. At that time, Sydney and Scooter were photographed packing on PDA, including smooching on a gondola.
Recently, a body language expert analyzed the couple's Venice interactions and shared that there could be a hidden power struggle between them. Notably, the expert comment comes amid reports that Scooter controls Sydney's career, and she has decided to change her religion to Judaism for him, even while belonging to a staunch Christian family.
According to an Irish Star report, celebrity body language expert Inbaal Honigman analyzed photos of Sydney and Scooter and believes their public displays of affection could reflect an underlying struggle over who has the upper hand in the relationship. According to Inbaal, Scooter appears to be more in control and leading the dynamic for now, particularly during their gondola ride.
However, Sydney also didn't seem passive, and she could be challenging the dominant position, the body language expert added. Thus, according to Inbaal Honigman, both were trying to assert an upper hand in the relationship. The celebrity body language expert's exact words were:
"The couple's body language in Venice indicates somewhat of a power struggle, where Scooter Braun currently has the upper hand, but Sydney Sweeney is a strong claimant to the crown."

Elaborating on his observation of Sydney and Scooter's gondola ride, Inbaal Honigman said his hand on her knee showed romance but also screamed dominance. In his words:
"When they sit in the gondola, his hand is on her knee, which is a controlling gesture, as he is, gently but surely, pinning his actress girlfriend down. It means that he doesn't want to lose her, and that he's making sure she's at his side."
Inbaal also cited the example of Sydney and Scooter handholding while walking through Venice to back his analysis regarding the dominant partner. The expert was quoted by Irish Star as saying:
"When they're seen touring the streets of Venice, Scooter's hand nearly covers all of Sydney's. They're holding hands romantically, but there is no hiding the fact that he is in charge, as his hand is the literal upper hand."
Although Scooter seemed to be controlling his 16-year-younger girlfriend for now, she "does not want to live in her man's shadow." The body language expert added that while the couple walked side by side, she held her handbag-wielding hand a little way away from her body. The move allegedly increased the perceived size of her frame, so that "she's seen to take up more space."
