She was married twice, with her first husband maintaining a low-key life since their divorce. Before her union with Greg Watson, she was married to Michael Badger. He is (or was) reportedly a school teacher by profession. Being a non-celebrity, he came to prominence after his wedding to 6ABC Action News chief meteorologist, Cecily Tynan.
Cecily Tynan met Michael Badger when they attended Washington and Lee University. They both reportedly graduated in 1991, which makes it likely that they are about the same age. The exact timeline of the duo's dating and marriage is not publicly known, as back then she was at the beginning of her career and hadn't become widely popular yet. By 1993, the former couple was engaged, and they officially tied the knot in April 1996.
After a few years of remaining as fiancés, Cecily Tynan and Michael Badger decided to take their relationship to the next level. Their wedding took place around the same time when she accepted the job offer from WPVI-TV. Little did she know at the time that the decision would later become life-changing. Cecily's job made the duo relocate to Philadelphia, where they remained until their split.
After nearly nine years of marriage, Cecily and Michael reportedly divorced in early 2005. They did not have any children together, and Cecily experienced motherhood only after her wedding to her second husband, Greg Watson. Cecily and Greg tied the knot in an outdoor chapel ceremony in 2005 and have spent two decades together. According to some sources, Greg is an investment advisor, while others claim that he is a duathlete.
Cecily and Greg have two adult children, a son named Luke Watson and a daughter named Emma Grace Watson. Luke was born on January 20, 2006 and is currently a 20-year-old student at Colorado University. Emma was born on September 17, 2007 and is currently 18 years old.
Emma reportedly graduated from high school in June 2026. As for her mother's first husband Michael Badger, following his divorce from Cecily, he chose to maintain a private lifestyle away from the media spotlight. Nothing is known about his current whereabouts.

Cecily Tynan announced her retirement on July 23, 2026, after more than 35 years in broadcast journalism and 30 years at Philadelphia's 6ABC Action News. In her retirement statement, she said that her final broadcast will be on August 31, 2026, and that she's looking forward to the next chapter focused on family. She plans to spend more time with her husband, Greg Watson, their kids, and their three rescue dogs, while staying involved in community and charity work that's been important to her career.
Cecily joined WPVI-TV in 1995 as a weekend weather anchor and general assignment reporter, then became the weekday morning meteorologist. By 2003, she was on the 5:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts, and in 2009 she took over the 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. forecasts. She served as chief meteorologist and hosted major local specials including the 6ABC Dunkin' Donuts Thanksgiving Day Parade, the 4th of July Parade, Philly on Wheels, and the Philadelphia Flower Show.
