Cecily Tynan has pursued a successful career as a meteorologist over the years. Behind the camera, her personal life has also been in the spotlight. She has been married to Greg Watson, and they reportedly tied the knot in 2005. Some sources have claimed that Greg is an investment advisor. However, he has stayed out of the limelight for all these years, and the same can be said about his relationship timeline with Cecily.
Furthermore, multiple outlets have confirmed that Greg is a duathlete. He has participated in various competitions over the years. Moreover, he and Cecily have also run together on a few occasions. In 2012, Greg addressed the same in an interview and said:
“We’re not training all out like we used to do. It’s more like something we can do together now. We run together almost every day. When we get to a race, we each run our own race. I usually finish five or six minutes ahead of her.”
Greg also shared the experience of participating in a race, saying that it feels great to see people cheering for everyone, starting from the first person to the last. Back in 2014, Cecily opened up about her experience with running, saying she likes being outside because she enjoys hearing nature. Cecily said that her dogs usually accompany her and she does not need a lot of equipment, except for some running clothes and a pair of shoes. Speaking about her husband’s speed, Cecily said:
“He's very fast. We warm up together and I kiss him at the starting line and then he finds me at the end and we cool down together. He'll do Broad Street well under an hour. He's the 2004 duathlon world champion . . . Run, bike, run. . . . He's the best in the world at a sport that most people have never heard of.”

Cecily Tynan announced her retirement on July 23, 2026, after more than 35 years in broadcast journalism and 30 years at Philadelphia’s 6ABC Action News.
In her retirement statement, Tynan said her final broadcast will be August 31, and that she’s looking forward to the next chapter focused on family. She plans to spend more time with husband Greg Watson, their son Luke and daughter Emma, and their three rescue dogs, while staying involved in community and charity work that’s been important to her career.
Cecily Tynan joined WPVI-TV in 1995 as a weekend weather anchor and general assignment reporter, then became the weekday morning meteorologist. By 2003, she was on the 5:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. newscasts, and in 2009 she took over the 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. forecasts. She served as chief meteorologist and hosted major local specials including the 6ABC Dunkin’ Donuts Thanksgiving Day Parade, the 4th of July Parade, Philly on Wheels, and the Philadelphia Flower Show.
She was inducted into the Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia Hall of Fame in 2012. Outside the newsroom, Tynan is a four-time sub-3-hour marathoner, a former professional duathlete, and a top-10 age group finisher at the 2003 Ironman World Championships in Kona. She was featured on the February 2001 cover of Runner’s World.
