A 70-year-old man crashed Cardi B’s video shoot in NYC
According to reports, a man got into the area where Cardi B was shooting a video in New York City on August 11, 2026. The man in question was later identified as a 70-year-old photographer named Steven Sands. After getting in, he disrupted Cardi’s shoot in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Although the shoot was taking place on the streets, the rapper already had a permit to film there.
Sources with knowledge of the incident told TMZ that Steven not only ignored orders from Cardi’s staff but also proceeded to bypass police barriers. He also refused to comply with police orders when he was told to stop acting up. Ultimately, Steven ended up with a criminal court summons for disorderly conduct.
In a video that is now going viral on Instagram, Steven Sands can be seen being detained and put into handcuffs by NYPD officers next to a police car. However, the police revealed that the photographer was later released without being arrested.
Interestingly, while speaking with TMZ, Steven claimed that she got to the video shoot before Cardi B herself. When a security guard spotted him, they came up to the photographer and read him the instructions to control the crowd and media. Following this, the guard moved him behind all the equipment that was present on the scene so that he wouldn't be able to see Cardi properly when she began filming.
This led Steven to tell the guard that he wished to move about 10 feet away to an open area. This would allow him to get a perfect shot of the rapper. However, Steven claimed that the guard did not allow him to do so. The guard reportedly told him that Cardi B wouldn't want that.
This prompted the 70-year-old to fire back by saying, “I don't mean to be rude, but I don't care what Cardi wants.” This turned out poorly for Steven after this, as he was cuffed by the police, who also issued him a summons.
In a screenshot of Steven’s Instagram post shared by the publication, the photographer cussed Cardi B. Seemingly mad about the situation, he wrote, “To one of the scummiest, nastiest, tasteless vermin who also lived up to her name, Cardi Bitch, who told her few applauding fellow Dominican fans to “Shut the fuck up!”
Fans react to the 70-year-old photographer disrupting Cardi B’s video shoot
Steven Sands seems to be pretty well-known as a photographer. Yet, his actions have left some of Cardi B's fans immensely worried. Taking to social media, a fan wrote, “That man is trouble; he’s not innocent and claims to be Press with an expired pass. He claims he will sue and never does. He crashes into events claiming he’s Time magazine or USA Weekly lol.” Another wrote, “Paparazzi really think being annoying is a constitutional right.”
A third user penned, “Steve got chased off my gig on Thursday night while we were on Ave A in the LES @stevesands. What a guy. He’s been around since the 80’s. Oh, you have to see Radioman. Did he show up?” Another wrote, “Who tf is the creative director behind this video? @iamcardib you deserve better, babes!”
