Preity Zinta, a prominent name in the Indian film industry, has left an indelible mark over the years that she has worked in Bollywood. Her filmography boasts of iconic movies like Veer Zaara, Dil Chahta Hai, Dil Se.., Kal Ho Na Ho, and many more. Recognised for her dimpled cheeks and captivating persona, Preity is set to make a grand return to Bollywood with the much-anticipated film, Lahore 1947. But before her silver screen comeback, she graced the esteemed Cannes Film Festival 2024 at the French Riviera.
Preity returned to the sun-kissed shore of the city of Cannes after 17 long years. The actress, who left for the film festival recently, is yet to walk on the esteemed red carpet. However, her first look has been going viral on social media. She opted for a pristine white shimmery gown featuring bow detailing on the sleeves. She accessorised her look with a pair of dainty earrings and tied her hair into a neat bun to complete her look. The actress looked like a sight to behold as she struck poses.

After many years, Preity flew to Cannes to present the Pierre Angenieux ExcelLens in Cinematography honour to the renowned Indian cinematographer, Santosh Sivan, the first Asian to receive this award. She worked with the latter on her debut film, Dil Se.., which was released in 1998. Moreover, Preity once again joined hands with Santosh Sivan for her comeback film, Lahore 1947.
During her conversation with DD India from the Cannes Film Festival, the actress recalled how Santosh Sivan took care of her while they were shooting the song, Jiya Jale from the 1998 Mani Ratnam film. Preity shared that she had fallen sick after dancing in the rain, and the cinematographer made sure to make her eat the right food. Recalling the incident, Preity added:
“While we were shooting in Kerala, the song had a little light rain. You don't really see the rain, but it was there. So in the four days there, my bones were hurting in the rain, I had a fever, and I wasn't feeling well. Santosh came and got me rasam and all the food, and said, ‘Why don’t you eat this? It's hot.' He was really sweet and took care of me.”

Preity made her Cannes debut in 2006 when she attended the premieres of the films, The Wind That Shakes The Barley and Paris, Je T'aime. The following year, she attended the premiere of Chacun Son Cinema. Preity was also present at the premiere of My Blueberry Nights, which opened the festival in 2007. The actress then attended the Soiree Chopard during the 2008 Cannes. Preity reportedly then returned to the film festival in 2013 as the brand ambassador of Chopard.
