Brittany Boltinhouse, a Mormon and conservative Christian, won Miss North Carolina USA on June 28, 2026. Weeks later, on August 5, 2026, organizers stripped her of the crown after what they called a review of surfaced information showing conduct over time that violated standards.

Miss USA organization cited that they won’t tolerate racism, homophobia, and transphobia that is expected to damage someone’s dignity. Boltinhouse said she believes it was due to her political and religious beliefs, not a single mistake. As per a new update, Brittany has recently refused to apologize for everything that happened.

Notably, the decision of the Miss USA organization was a result of some old social media posts, where Brittany Boltinhouse was reportedly spotted using the N-word.

Brittany has now responded that she stands by her past remarks that allegedly led to her dethroning. In a wide-ranging interview with the Daily Mail, Boltinhouse addressed the backlash head-on. She said she won’t walk away from her history and made it clear she won’t apologize. When asked directly if she should say sorry for using the slur, she replied:

“No. Not at all.”

Boltinhouse argued that the posts weren’t the real reason she lost the crown. She described herself as a proud conservative and God-fearing woman, and claimed her removal was tied to her political and religious views instead. She also told the Daily Mail:

“I'm going to address those in my lawsuit, I’m not going to deny them or run from them. But they did not take my crown because of those posts.”

She added that she has audio recordings she says will prove her case, and that she plans to release them when the right time comes. Her attorney, Patrick Mincey, said that his client has been defamed. He even said that the allegations against Brittany, including that she was a “racist” and “homophobe,” were not true.

Patrick stated the recordings will show Brittany’s firing was about her conservative beliefs, not decade-old posts. Co-counsel Stephen Bell echoed that, saying she was branded prejudiced only to justify the decision. Boltinhouse said she felt “unfairly targeted” and that her right to free expression as an American was taken from her.

Brittany Boltinhouse aims to take action after her title was taken away

Brittany Boltinhouse has hired an attorney after her title was taken away. In an Instagram video posted on August 10, 2026, Patrick Mincey, who represents the former pageant winner, announced that he had been retained to pursue potential legal action over what he described as the wrongful and unjustified removal of the Miss North Carolina USA title.

Mincey, an attorney with the North Carolina firm Mincey Bell Rhoades, said the firm was engaged to carry out a broad investigation into the circumstances behind the decision to take her crown. He characterized the review as national in scope and extensive in reach.

According to Mincey, the investigation has a single purpose. He said that it aims to uncover and lay out the full facts regarding what he characterized as another case of cancel culture targeting a young woman for her religious beliefs and publicly stated political views. He further claimed that early findings included recordings in which pageant officials allegedly acknowledged there was no legitimate or legal basis for revoking Brittany Boltinhouse’s title.

Boltinhouse previously said in an interview that she believed she lost the title due to her views as a conservative Christian woman. When she was asked if she thought her conservative political and social values had hurt her in the pageant, Boltinhouse responded that she was proud of her standards and her identity as a conservative and God-fearing Christian woman. She also noted that because of a confidentiality clause in an agreement she signed, she was restricted from discussing the specific reasons behind the loss of her title.

Boltinhouse added that she felt at peace with what happened and was grateful it had happened to her rather than to another young woman who might not have been able to handle it. She said the situation had brought scrutiny on her and her family, but that she remained at peace, could see a way forward, and was confident in who she is and who she could become.
