Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake fell in love when they were teens
Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake met on the set of The Mickey Mouse Club when they were 11 years old. The couple reconnected seven years later when Justin was touring with his boy band NSYNC, and Britney was the opening act. Soon, the duo started dating. In 1999, Britney and Timberlake were one of the much-loved couples to their fans.
From performing at the Super Bowl to appearing on Saturday Night Live to achieving multiple trophies together, Britney and Justin were just goals. They had a relationship that was filled with excitement and the passion of first love, as Justin back then told GQ that he was infatuated from the moment he saw her. For Britney, she was in love with Justin from the core of her heart.
During an interview with The Guardian, Britney further stated that they had a meaningful relationship that was far deeper than what they had when they were just younger. They have known each other since they were younger; however, as they grew up together, their relationship became more meaningful. Sharing more about the same, Britney Spears said:
"It is a deeper love now than when I was younger. Like, we've gone through so much together and we've known each other since we were 12 years old. We know each other inside and out."
Why did Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake part ways?
While the once much-loved couple, Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake, were once in love, reports said they parted ways in 2002. Initially, neither of them revealed the real reason for their breakup. However, soon, speculation started that a cheating incident caused the rift between the duo.
It was claimed that Britney cheated on Justin, something he didn't say out loud, but he released the music video Cry Me a River back in 2003. The video featured a woman cheating, and the lead allegedly resembled Britney. This actually turned out to be a massive topic of discussion, with everyone assuming that the Give Me More singer cheated on her beau. During one of ABC’s interviews with Diane Sawyer, Britney was told that she broke Justin's heart. In reply, she said:
“I think everyone has a side of their story to make them feel a certain way…and I’m not technically saying he’s wrong but I’m not technically saying he’s right either.”
On the other hand, Justin, speaking to Barbara Walters, said that when he and Britney broke up, he promised not to reveal the exact reason for which they decided to part ways. Years later, in her memoir, Britney revealed details about her painful breakup. She admitted to having cheated on him with choreographer Wade Robson. She also shared that this was for one time that she did it, but Justin continued to cheat on her throughout their relationship. She mentioned letting it all go, because she was in love.
However, something that she thought would be forever ended up being 'the biggest breakup'. In her memoir, Britney also shared that she was pregnant with Justin's kid, but she had to opt for an abortion, as her then-beau was not ready to be a father. According to Britney, that abortion was "one of the most agonizing things I have ever experienced in my (her) life.”
